Got a message warning me not to pass on a passcode, which included a code for a zero-pound payment on PayPal from my card ending ####. It also said to ring 08001214251 if I hadn’t made that transaction. Shortly after, I got two more texts confirming my mobile number had been changed to a new one I supposedly provided. Got a call from someone pretending to be from the bank saying there was an £800 fraud attempt on our account and wanted to check if it was us. I work at Virgin Money and just wanted to say, if you get a call or text from this number, it’s best to just ignore it and hang up. I received an alert from Virgin Money asking me to approve a payment. When I logged in, it showed a £34 charge for Domino's pizza, which I didn’t make! This one seems a bit strange... if you recieve a call or message from this number, chances are it’s a scam. Either 1. Dont call it, instead ring the number on your card or 2. If you do call, type the number in manually yourself Numbers can be faked, meaning real looking ones can actually be scammers using cloned numbers. I got a text telling me to ring this number, saying it was from Virgin Money and something about 'Falcon@' - sounded really fishy to me. Then the same number called with some robotic voice, which was creepy. I've just been away in Spain for a couple of weeks using a car hire from OKMobility, and honestly, they seemed pretty shady too. Got an email supposedly from this number, seemed legit as it had my name and all. So I decided to ring it up, and it asked me to choose between debit or credit card. When I pressed 1 for debit, it said the number wasn’t recognised. I gave it another go, pressed 2 for credit, and then got another voice menu. Just a heads up everyone, watch out!

That said, it's best never to ring back if you get a text out of the blue. Don't give out any personal details if someone calls. The safest bet is always to check your bank’s website directly and use the fraud contact numbers they provide or just pop into your nearest branch.

Received a message from CYBG asking me to ring 0800 121 4 251 about a payment needing approval. I looked up the number on their official website, and it matched. I called and a Scottish bloke picked up, asking some straightforward stuff like my sort code and account number to confirm my identity. Then he actually told me my customer number! After that, he said there was no problem and ended the call. The next day, I noticed a massive amount had been stolen from my account by a dodgy direct debit set up somewhere else. The bank advised me to go to a branch, which I did, and they refunded the money and put security measures in place. Really, dont trust texts or emails asking for this kind of info - safest to just go in person. They seriously need an online switch to freeze accounts against fraud.

Yesterday I got a call from a bloke with a Scottish accent asking for my sort code, account number and then a long string of numbers. Something didnt sit right so I said no and hung up. Then I rang my bank straight away and, guess what, the exact same guy answered! He kept pushing me to give my debit card details, saying he was checking some fraud that wasnt even there. It’s scary how they managed to hijack my call to the real bank. If you need to call your branch, seriously use a different phone because these scammers seem to be able to take over your line and pretend to be the bank. Stay alert!

Someone rang me saying there was dodgy stuff going on with my mum’s bank account, for which I have POA. I got a message from this number saying there was some strange activity on my account. I looked into my account and everything seemed fine. They’ve got another number too, 441132468827. Has anyone else come across these numbers?

Got a call this evening claiming to be from the Yorkshire Bank fraud team, asking me to ring back on 08001214251, and to choose options 1 then 3. When I dialled, option 1 was all about debit cards but there was no option 3. Eventually, I spoke to someone with an accent who said they were with Clyde Bank. They asked for my bank details, but I told them I wasn’t comfortable sharing that info. They insisted it was needed and said they were looking at a blank screen, which seemed odd as I hadn’t gone through any automated prompts. I stood my ground and said I wouldn’t give details, then they told me to Google the number and hung up. The call came through at about 5.30pm and there was no number showing. Later, they left a voicemail too.

I got a call from this number like 8 times running. Picked up on the first and the third attempts, but all I heard was silence. After that third time, I just muted my phone. Anyone know who this might be?

This number keeps calling me over and over in one day, and it’s getting really annoying. I wonder if it’s some sort of company or what?
