Got a call on my phone supposedly from Virgin Money about a refund authorisation. Didn’t answer, checked it out and have reported it now.

This one seems a bit strange... if you recieve a call or message from this number, chances are it’s a scam. Either 1. Dont call it, instead ring the number on your card or 2. If you do call, type the number in manually yourself Numbers can be faked, meaning real looking ones can actually be scammers using cloned numbers. So my advice is: dont hit call back dont tap on the number link Cheers!

I can confirm that the number 08001214251 is indeed a legitimate contact for the fraud department at Virgin Money, rather than their usual line. I verified this through my banking app and then gave them a ring myself. They acted promptly and managed to halt attempts to withdraw over £800 from my account.

Got a call from a 'number withheld' asking for card info and security details about a dodgy direct debit. They claimed to be from Virgin Media, which is our provider. They then sent a text telling us to ring back on 08001214251. We're definitely not with Yorkshire Bank. Sounds like a scam to me, right?

I got a text saying - HI, a payment or change in your Virgin Money account needs your approval. Log into your app to verify. Don’t recognise it? Call 08001214251. I gave them my name and address. The person on the line said they’d connect me to the PayPal Fraud Team. I logged into my app but there was nothing unusual. I spoke again to that number and they claimed PayPal made two payments of £0.00 and £1.99 to someone who’s probably a relative I found on Facebook. I checked online for that PayPal account but found no evidence. From all this, I’m pretty sure it was a scam.

Definitely not affiliated with Virgin Money, that’s for sure! I received a text instructing me to ring this number and mention 'Falcon@'. Sounds a bit dodgy if you ask me! I got an email from this number that seemed quite authentic. It had my name and all the right details, so I decided to give the number a ring. When I did, it prompted me to choose between debit or credit card. I pressed 1 for debit, but then I was met with a message stating that the number wasn’t recognised. I thought I’d try again, this time selecting 2 for a credit card, and it just led me to another automated menu. Just a heads-up, everyone! Stay vigilant!

0800 1214251 keeps ringing me with a recorded message, called me about six times saying there's some huge amount of cash being taken from my PayPal. Honestly, I dont trust it one bit. They gave me a code and a phone number to call but I double checked with PayPal and there's nothing wrong. I'm just ignoring it and not getting back to them.

When I looked into it, the number appears to be associated with Delta Nursing Agency at the Merrion Centre in Leeds. The message claimed to be from vmoneyandcyb. Quite odd, if you ask me!

Suddenly, the penny dropped - why on earth would a legitimate caller be requesting this information? I firmly declined to comply. He continued to press me for my details, claiming he needed them to investigate a supposed fraud, despite there being no fraud at all. It’s quite concerning to think they might be intercepting calls to the bank like this. The man was incredibly pushy about getting my debit card information. Take heed, everyone - if you plan on phoning your local bank, it would be wise to use a different phone than the one you received the call on. They seem to have some clever trick to hijack your call and insert themselves into the conversation.

This evening, I received a call purporting to be from the fraud department of Yorkshire Bank, instructing me to ring them back at 08001214251 and select options 1 and 3. I followed the prompts, but option 1 only provided information about my debit card, while option 3 was nowhere to be found. Eventually, I was connected to a person who appeared to have a strong accent, claiming to be from Clyde Bank. They requested my bank details, but I expressed my discomfort with sharing such sensitive information. He insisted it was necessary and seemed to be staring at a blank screen, which raised a red flag for me since I hadn't navigated through any automated menu. Despite his pressure, I firmly stated that I wasn’t comfortable disclosing any information. The call ended abruptly when he told me to look up the number before hanging up. This all happened at about half five this evening, and there was no number on my caller ID. They even left a message in my voicemail!

I've received eight calls from this number back-to-back. I picked up on the first and third call, but there was complete silence on the other end. After the third, I decided to silence my phone entirely. I'm really curious - who on earth is this?!
