Got a call from some overseas call centre pretending to be my electricity company, said they were Scottish Power. I’ve never been a customer of theirs, not even once. The bloke told me to double check if I was with them, but I told him straight I’m not with Scottish Power, Eon or any other supplier he mentioned. After that I just ended the call.

This number just rang us up trying to reserve a dinner table for tomorrow evening. The chat was a bit odd and it seemed like they were really fishing for details about who runs the place. Watch out for this one!

I got a call at work from someone saying they were from our electric provider. When I asked which company, he said Eon. Then I gave him our address and he said it was actually supplied by British Gas. Then he told me his name was Eon and that he worked for British Gas. He wanted me to agree to terms so he could send over some paperwork. Asked for the account number but it was completely wrong. I said I'd ring them back later, but he said they don’t take incoming calls and I had to deal with it there and then. Yeah, no thanks!

I got a call from someone claiming to be EDF, saying my tariff was about to finish and they needed to send some papers. When I asked them to verify my account number, they mucked it up. The guy sounded really convincing but had an Indian accent. I told him I’d ring EDF myself to double-check, and then he just hung up on me. I phoned EDF and they said they never contacted me and my tariff’s nowhere near ending. Definitely a dodgy scam attempt.
