3 yearsJust noticed some withdrawals from my bank that I didn’t authorise, feels like someone’s got hold of my account info.4 yearsGot a call from 08001026785, some bloke called Mark Howard said my computer was infected and wanted me to pay £3500 for some life protection through PayPal. He somehow managed to get temporary access to my PC, which was proper scary. I ended the call straight away. I’m in Crawley, West Sussex, so watch out for this one.Mark HowardCrawleyWest Sussex4 yearsreading these comments really shows how risky these scammers can be. ive had like 3 machines totally messed up with malware because of them. you should seriously get good antivirus (i’m using norton 360 myself) and make sure u run regular scans. gotta report every scam call to police via the ‘action fraud’ website so they can track this stuff.Norton 360Action Fraud4 yearsJust received a rather persuasive call from a chap claiming to be Mark Howard, insisting that my computer was in dire need of virus protection. He wanted an astronomical amount, anywhere from £150 to a staggering £3500 for a year's worth of protection-supposedly for life. He even suggested I pay through PayPal! At one point, he had remote access to my laptop. I decided to end the conversation and hung up on him. This all happened on the 9th of May here in Crawley, West Sussex. I promptly switched off my computer as a precaution. Be on your guard, folks!Mark HowardCrawleyWest Sussex4 yearsA pal of mine in England received a call from this number, and it seems they were attempting to hijack their computer. Really worrying!England4 yearsI got some sort of alert on my laptop saying I couldn’t use it unless I rang this number for tech help. A woman called Lisa answered, got remote access to my PC, and walked me through it. She showed me a few files on my system and then gave me a choice between two antivirus options from four different providers. I just moved to the countryside and found all this pretty confusing and annoying, as I wasn’t sure what to trust or how to handle it.Lisa4 yearsIsn’t it Windows Defender, if I'm not mistaken?4 yearsI encountered a pop-up while browsing that insisted my device was compromised and urged me to ring a particular number. Let me tell you, it’s absolutely a con job!4 yearsComputer is inaccessible at the moment.4 yearsToday my son got caught up in a scam where his computer was locked and then someone called him pretending to help, trying to push some virus software on him! Luckily, I checked his laptop and it seems fine now. Just a heads up to everyone, watch out for stuff like this!4 yearsMy laptop froze up and a message popped up saying it’d been infected by a virus and my network was hacked. I rang the number it showed and they ended up remotely accessing my computer. Then they asked for about £500 to install some kind of firewall. I’m not great with tech stuff but it didn’t seem right so I refused to pay and just ended the call. Later, my internet company ran some tests and confirmed everything was fine with my connection.4 yearsI got a call from someone pretending to be Windows tech support after my screen showed a big warning about a virus. They tried to freak me out and get me to let them fix it, but luckily I knew it was a scam and hung up right away. These fake warnings popping up and then calls like that are getting all too common now. Always better to double check before trusting anyone who rings up like that.Submit Your Own Report (0800 102 6785)
