I made the mistake of ringing this number because I thought it was the official Norton support, according to what I’d seen on Google. A man with a foreign accent picked up and offered to help sort out a Norton issue I supposedly had. I let him access my laptop and then he told me to buy £90 worth of iTunes cards and read the codes aloud. He assured me Norton would be installed, and as a "special deal" I wouldn’t have to renew my subscription ever again. Turns out it was a total con. I’m 80 years old and it’s taken me a while to realise I got scammed. Since then, I’ve updated all my bank details, changed passwords, and reported it to the fraud police. It’s worrying that numbers like this one are still out there, preying on people who might not be so careful.

Total rip off! They said they were from Norton but when I checked, Norton didn’t have any record of them. Reading through other comments, looks like these scammers pretend to be from loads of different companies. I made the error of letting them access my PC - what a stupid mistake. Watch out and don’t get caught by this scam!

I honestly can’t believe I actually thought this was Bullguard at first, even though the website looked nothing like when I used Bullguard about five or six months back! I was really just trying to check on an invoice, mind.

A few days later, these scammers rang me again, probably because they’d got my number by then, but they wouldn’t say who they were. The accent sounded Indian or Pakistani, which immediately made me suspicious it was a con. Plus, there was that background noise like a call centre, but it echoed weirdly long, which just made me want to find a proper phone number or email from somewhere else.

I really don’t get why Google doesn’t verify the business credentials of the companies they partner with - I guess the answer’s just plain GREED.

Complete con artists! They claim to be from tech support for big names like Yahoo and BT, trying to get access to your computer. Watch out, they want to take over your PC!

They say they're Avast support and then try to sneak out your bank info.
