Keep getting annoying calls from this number. They seem totally shady. Never pick up or ring them back no matter what, that’s exactly how they trap you. If it was something legit or urgent, they’d leave a clear voicemail - but nope, nothing ever. People saying this number is safe must be either really naive or involved somehow.

Lloyds banking group, Halifax, rang me about an arrears of around £50 on my mortgage. Its definitely them, no doubt. They wouldn't have known the details of the chat I had with them earlier if they weren't legit.

I’ve blocked 08000920762 but they still manage to ring through, although they never leave a voicemail. They just hang up as soon as the answerphone picks up. It feels like a pushy, intimidating call to me. Best move is to block and avoid them entirely. If they do leave a message, you can keep it as proof, but so far, none!

Somebody said they were from Bank of Scotland, but it’s definitely not them. I just didn’t share any info and ended the call. Remember, if the bank actually wants to reach you, they’ll send a letter or ask you to ring a number you already know is theirs.

I've received multiple calls from the number 08000920762 on my home phone. It's worth noting that this seems to be a scam operation. They often claim to be from Halifax or Lloyds as part of their ruse. Interestingly, the female voices are quite persistent, but I've also had blokes ring up-one of whom went by the name BRIAN. Just a heads-up to everyone, keep your wits about you!

I've been inundated with calls from this number, 08000920762, throughout the week. The bloke claims to be called Brian and insists he’s calling about our Halifax phone banking and mortgage. He’s been asking for my full name under the guise of 'security' before he can continue. Naturally, I didn’t reveal any information, yet he even suggested I hand the phone to my husband so he could ask the same intrusive questions. It's quite alarming-these individuals seem like total scammers, and I dread to think what might happen if they manage to target vulnerable folks, like the elderly. We really need to flag this issue and protect ourselves!

I received a call from this number at 8:05 AM on my home phone on a Saturday. They claimed to represent Lloyds Bank. What a lovely way to wake up on a weekend! Just a minute later, they rang my mobile. I advised them to send any concerns in writing and I’ll reach out to Lloyds if needed. Curiously, they’ve been persistent, calling both my landline and mobile on Thursday and Friday as well. This has escalated to a nuisance, verging on harassment!

I’ve gone ahead and blocked this number so my phone doesn’t keep buzzing when they ring. Usually, they’d call me about 4 times a day. I’m not a customer of Halifax, Lloyds, and I definitely don’t have an MBNA credit card. The latest cheeky call came through at 8:45pm on a Sunday evening. You can draw your own conclusions. My bank only ever gets in touch via letter because I don’t do emails or phone calls.

My partner and I have been inundated with calls from this number, getting at least three to four a day. I finally picked up the phone today, and the person on the line claimed to be with Lloyds Bank, stating they wanted to talk about a private banking issue. I only managed to confirm my name, share my date of birth, and give my postcode before I hung up on them. After that, I contacted Lloyds directly to report the call. I've successfully blocked the number on my mobile, but unfortunately, I can’t seem to do the same on my partner's phone.

This number really belongs to Lloyds Banking Group (which covers Halifax, Cheltenham & Gloucester, and a few others). It’s mainly used by particular teams, like those handling debt collection or sorting out mortgage end-of-term stuff. If you’re still unsure, just drop them a message on Twitter or Facebook - they’re pretty good about confirming if it’s their number and can even tell you which department called if you ask nicely.

Someone called pretending to be from Lloyds Bank and even knew my surname, but it's definitely a scam. No one from Lloyds ever rings me up, and they made a huge mistake by calling after 4.30pm when the bank's already closed! So don’t share any details, even if you have an overdraft and reckon it’s legit. Always pop into your local branch instead because the bank hardly ever phones you directly! They might send an email or text if you’ve agreed to it, but better to be cautious!

I never pick up calls from unfamiliar numbers, if it's urgent they'll leave a message. Then I normally just google the number and this site usually pops up. I’ve got no links with Halifax or Lloyds whatsoever. Besides, if this number belonged to a big company like Halifax or Lloyds, it would show up as theirs when you search it because it’d be officially listed under them!

Got a call from Halifax about my mortgage being overdue, turns out they had my bank info mixed up. When I checked, my account was really behind so I rang Halifax straight away and sorted the payment. Still, the person who called sounded genuine.

I missed a few calls from this number during the week while I was at work. They phoned again on Saturday around 2pm wanting to discuss my mortgage and said they needed to do security checks before telling me anything. I was a bit suspicious so they offered to give me their number to call back, but I still wasn’t convinced and asked why they hadn’t sent me a letter like they usually do if there’s an issue. They wouldn’t chat without running through the security checks, so I said I’d visit the branch in person and then hung up. Seems a bit shady to me! Watch out!

This was an actual call from Halifax mortgage collections. They had messed up my early payment details from my old contract and were after me for a 'late' payment. I explained everything and the lady I spoke to was really helpful, she sorted it all out and paused my account while they fixed the calculations. Honestly, one of the rare decent people I’ve dealt with at Halifax recently.

They said alright, and that once I called back, it’d be clear why they had phoned. They gave a freephone number that doesn’t even work.
