Somebody called saying they were from HSBC, even had my husband’s name and his business details, asking about a company signatory. I told them I’m not involved with the company at all and asked how they got my mobile number. I ended the call and told my husband to let the bank know about it.

From what I gathered, these are definite scammers. They rang me up twice today, looking for someone who obviously isn’t the actual card owner. Also seemed like they didn’t realise David is usually a bloke’s name. Pretty dodgy if you ask me.

Got a call from this number today, but I didn't pick up. Seems like they’ve brought this scam line back because almost all the reviews I found were from more than a year ago.

This number keeps ringing me but all I get is silence at first, then some person with a strong foreign accent struggling to say my name or my business’s name properly. They say they’re from HSBC but I told them over and over again that banks never phone their clients like this. They just don’t seem to get it at all. Tried to block 08000853955 but can’t seem to do it anywhere. Proper annoying!

This was a proper HSBC business support number. At first, I was a bit wary after reading the other comments, mainly because the caller seemed to know a lot about my account (which actually made me think they were genuine). To be sure, I called HSBC on their official main line, and they checked for me. They confirmed that 0800 085 3955 is indeed one of their numbers. Glad I double-checked, especially with it being Halloween and all!

On Friday I got an email claiming to be from HSBC asking me to ring them that day. Before doing anything, I contacted HSBC directly and they confirmed there was nothing on their end and advised me to ignore the message. Then early Saturday at around 8am, I actually got a call from the same number. I told the woman who answered that I’d already spoken to HSBC and knew it was a fake, but she kept pushing me to phone a different number as she claimed she’d left a note somewhere. In the end, she said she’d get back to me in a few days.

I got a call from 0800 0853955 yesterday, with someone asking for my son and claiming to be from HSBC. I checked the number here and found out it's a known scam. They rang again just now and hung up as soon as I picked up. Honestly, I’m really grateful for “Who Called co.uk” for helping me spot these dodgy calls. Keep it up!

I've been getting calls on both my mobile and home number saying there's some dodgy activity on a Diamond car, which I don’t even own. They mentioned transactions of £400 and £1200. Left the messages, but it smells like a scam so I haven’t replied. Just seems like a clear fraud attempt to me.

Got a call late outside normal banking times from a bloke claiming to be with HSBC fraud team. He said someone was trying to nick money from my account and that he'd opened a new account for me. Then he wanted me to send money over to that account. I said no way, and he didn’t sound pleased before he just hung up on me.

Got an email that said "IMPORTANT MESSAGE. Please ring us today on 0800 085 3955.." but I checked with HSBC Fraud Team and they told me this number is dodgy. If you’re not sure about a call supposedly from your bank, the best thing is to request they put a note on your account, then hang up and ring your bank’s official customer service. If the call was genuine, the staff will see the note when you call them. Stay safe!

Some bloke claimed to be from HBSC and started talking about standing orders I'd supposedly put in place along with certain amounts. He mentioned someone tried to reset my password from Aberdeen and wanted to do a risk check with me over the phone. I told him I’d prefer to sort it out at the branch instead, so he said he’d book me in for Monday at 11am. Then, he asked if I felt uneasy about the call and said he’d ring me back using a gov-secure line. After that, he said I’d wasted his time, and I just ended the call.

Got a letter saying it’s from HSBC UK but there’s no address, only a phone number: 03456006423. Seems like they’re chasing money owed to John Lewis or something. Should I just ring that number on the letter to sort it out? Not too sure if it’s legit or what.

They show up as HSBC on my caller ID, but I’ve never been a customer there. What’s odd is they’re ringing a private number of mine that I haven’t shared with anyone. Tried calling back and got just a voicemail recording. Feels really dodgy to me, so I didn’t risk giving any info. I ended up blocking the number straight away.

I found myself in a similar predicament with this number. I received several calls but chose to ignore them, eventually deciding to peek at what others had said on this website (The Best). When I did finally pick up, they launched into some tale about HSBC, but I cut them off as soon as they began probing for my personal information. I told them they were nothing but a scammer and promptly ended the call. Amazingly, I've not heard from them since!

Received a call from HSBC earlier today, quite amusing really, as I had been in touch with them recently, so I thought it might actually be on the level. The woman on the line had a strong northern accent and said, "My system's gone down, could you provide your account number and sort code?" They really do know how to play the game convincingly. I responded with, "As if I’d ever give that to you. Ring me back once you sort out your issues." They’re quite skilled at this nonsense. The accent really threw me off too, as it reminded me of the lady I had a conversation with last week.

It seems to be linked to HSBC. I received a call earlier from 0345 587 3660, which has also been marked as potentially fraudulent. Just a heads up, I did talk to someone on that number and they had me convinced it was a legitimate call from HSBC. Stay cautious!
