About 0800 Numbers
A lot of organizations employ Freephone numbers, with calls being without charges from all consumer landlines and mobiles. But, if you're calling from a business phone, you might need to consult your provider to find out if fees might be applicable for dialing 0800 or 0808 numbers.
Other Numbers
Received a call claiming to be from the fraud department at HSBC (funny enough, they used the number printed on my debit card, which is a classic tactic known as 'spoofing' and raises a red flag). The caller seemed to know my mother’s maiden name, dropped hints about some dodgy emails I'd received lately, and then attempted to persuade me to transfer my funds to a 'new' account created in MY NAME.
PLEASE DO NOT MOVE YOUR MONEY. When I decided to ring the HSBC fraud hotline from another device, he caught on to what I was doing and urged me to hang up, insisting I was 'holding up the queue.'
