I dialled the number hiding my caller ID using 141, and the person who picked up asked straight away for my account number. I wasn’t comfortable sharing that, so I didn’t. They said they were from BT and needed either the account number or phone number to connect me properly. The woman sounded quite courteous, with a British lilt - maybe Northern Irish? I told her I suspected it was a scam and hung up. Didn’t get anywhere, but I really can’t stand these annoying calls.

So I got a call a few days ago from a woman with a very Asian accent, and she already knew my name. Then, just today, I got a voicemail from a robot saying the same thing about suspicious activity on my account because of loads of texts. They told me to ring them straight away on this number. Feels dodgy to me!

This isn’t actually BT. These individuals will argue that they represent BT and insist you have a hefty bill to settle, pressuring you to pay up to avoid further hassle. Whenever you try to contact BT directly, you’ll find it nearly impossible to get a straightforward answer. Stay cautious with this number!

Got a text on my landline telling me to call BT immediately about my account usage. Our usage has been perfectly normal, so this has got scam written all over it. Not falling for it!

This number doesn’t belong to BT! The individuals on the other end pretend to represent BT and assert that you have excessive account usage, pressuring you for a payment. Keep your distance from them! Whenever you try to contact the actual BT, it’s never as straightforward as connecting immediately like this number allows. Just be cautious!
