I recently had an annoying encounter when I dialled 141 to keep my number private. The individual on the other end requested my account number, which I was reluctant to disclose. They insisted they were affiliated with BT and required either my account number or phone number to connect me properly. The woman’s voice was courteous, sporting a British accent - perhaps Northern Irish, if I had to guess. I couldn’t shake the feeling that it was a scam, so I opted to hang up. Not much was achieved from the experience, but these bothersome calls really get on my nerves!

I received a phone call last week from a woman with an accent that seemed to be from the Far East, and she oddly knew my name. Then today, I got a voicemail that sounded like a robot.
