I had no clue who was calling my landline, its listed as ex directory and on the TPS. When the answerphone kicked in, I could hear what sounded like a call centre in the background. Don’t know who these lot are, but getting pretty fed up with random calls like this from all sorts of numbers.

Picked up the phone and could hear voices talking in the background, then they just cut me off.

For the past week, at pretty much the same time every day, our BT Call Blocker phone has beeped once. When someone calls, they're asked to say who they are, and if they do, the phone would normally ring so we can choose to answer, decline, or block the number. But in this case, they just hang up straight away. When I checked 1471, the number showed as 08000 726898. We have a British Gas HomeCare agreement, they're the company looking after our gas and electricity. I haven't bothered calling back.

Somebody rang claiming to be from British Gas. We've just sorted our homecare renewal and they didn't even get our last name right. They refused to speak to me since I'm not the account holder. I got a call from this number on my mobile. When I rang back, they asked me to dial again but leave out the first zero, saying it’d be free. I did what they said and then found out it was BRITISH GAS on the line. I’m actually one of their customers, and they said it wasn’t urgent but they’d get back to me later. This number has rung me a few times but every time I try to pick up, they just hang up straight away. I looked it up and apparently it's linked to British Gas, but I’m sure I opted out of any sales calls so I'm confused. When I dialled back, a man with a very curt tone answered, but I couldn’t really catch what he was saying properly. He never mentioned British Gas and it didn’t seem like a general helpline, more like a direct line. The voice was a bloke, with an English accent.
