On 24/11/22, I got an email pretending to be from PayPal saying there was suspicious activity on my account. The message claimed £877.99 was taken for a MacBook Air purchase and told me to call +44-800-058-4792 right away if it wasn’t me. Thing is, I closed my PayPal account ages ago, and the email they sent from isn’t linked to any of my PayPal details. The address itself looked completely off. Definitely a scam email with a dodgy UK phone number trying to trick people.

I got a dodgy email saying my PayPal was hacked and I needed to ring this number. Obviously, my account was fine. The message went like this: "Attention:Suspicious activity on your PayPal account detected. An amount of GBP £698.00 was taken for a SEPHORA GIFT CARD purchase. If you didn’t authorise this, please contact us immediately at +44-800-058-4870 or check out the PayPal Support Centre." Definitely a scam, so beware!

So it seems like this isn't just happening to me. They tried charging me $877.99 for a MacBook, but with a different name from what others have reported. Luckily, it showed up on my PayPal account and I was able to cancel and report it straight away.

Just like others here, I got an email from someone named Lizmarie Galarza claiming to be from PayPal asking me to pay £877.99 for a MacBook Air. The phone number in the email caught my eye. I don't even use PayPal, so it felt pretty dodgy. The email said my account was charged, but there was a big "pay now" button further down. I tried to find a phone number to reach PayPal on their website but only found email contacts, which is frustrating. I’m going to send this scam email over to them now.

Got an email that looked like it was from PayPal, telling me to ring a number. The message said something like:

I got an email asking for cash to pay for a MacBook. I didn’t bother calling the 0800 number they included because it seemed fishy. So instead, I just said no to the PayPal money request.

The sender’s email was something like [email protected]. I quickly logged into my Paypal, cancelled the transaction, and then switched up my password just to be safe.

Things turned sketchy when they asked me to share the full card number, which I didn’t agree to. I then used my PayPal app to call their official support. Turns out, the number that contacted me was fake and was trying to steal my card information. Just a heads up, PayPal will never ask for your full card digits like that.
