I received an identical email and decided to ring the number 0800 058 4786 to verify its authenticity. The individual on the other end sent me a password reset code, but I expressed my mistrust regarding their identity. I observed that the person I was speaking to appeared to be from India. They informed me that if I refused to divulge the password reset code sent to my mobile, they would need to impose a fee of £650. Subsequently, they abruptly ended the call. It is peculiar how they possessed my complete PayPal information, including my phone number.

I confronted them and asked how long they had been involved in this scam. They admitted to running it for three years. Please be cautious and do not waste your time responding to their emails. It is quite concerning that the email came from a genuine PayPal email address. The message claims that there has been unauthorized access to my PayPal account and that £650.00 has been deducted for the purchase of an EBAY E GIFT CARD. The transaction will be visible on the Payment activity page within 24 hours due to the automatic deduction. If I did not authorize this transaction, I am advised to contact PayPal immediately at +44 800 058 4786 or seek assistance from the PayPal Support Center.
