I've come across a dodgy number linked to a PayPal scam. A certain Denise White has been pestering me for a money transfer regarding Avast One, which I definitely haven't bought. The message accompanying the request mentioned that this was the number to ring PayPal for any suspicious activity. Quite the con, if you ask me!

It had that unmistakable vibe of a call centre, didn’t it?

I strongly recommend steering clear of this number! It’s an absolute scam! I received an email claiming it was a “Payment request from my PayPal account for a transaction involving AVA STONE,” but I can assure you, I haven't made any such purchase.

I rang that number by accident and straight away they asked for my credit card info. I ended up giving them my email by mistake. They even knew the first four digits of my card which freaked me out. When I questioned why they wanted the rest of my card number, they just cut the call. Only later did I realise it was some kind of scam trying to steal my details.

An email came through saying it was from Paypal, telling me to ring a number if the payment mentioned wasn’t authorised. Seemed a bit dodgy to me.

I got a payment demand from someone called “Rebecca Dobbs” claiming to be from “AVAST ONE,” asking for £579.99. They included a phone number to ring if the charge wasn’t recognised. I cancelled it via Paypal straight away since I reckon it’s probably some kinda scam.

Got the same scam call from someone named 'William Curtis': It said, "You made a payment of £579.99 to AVAST ONE. If this wasn’t you, get in touch with Customer Support at +44-800-058-4350." I’m gonna cancel it through PayPal and report that number as a phishing scam.

I got an email from PayPal telling me to call this number if I hadn’t approved a payment for something called "Avast One". From reading the other reviews here, looks like this is a phishing trick. Better not ring them!

Got an email saying I was charged £579.99 for Avast One by someone named Karin Pastor. I quickly cancelled the payment through the website and shut down my PayPal account. But then, about an hour later, I noticed five separate 'deposits' from Thomas Minchin. Not long after, five disputes popped up for items not received, and shortly after that, all five were closed with the decision going in the buyer’s favour. Looks like they had a very eventful morning!

Got an email this morning that looked like it was from PayPal about a payment request for £579.99 to AVAST ONE from someone named Efren Stroman. The email included this phone number as a contact, making it seem like it was legit and from PayPal. But it’s definitely not PayPal’s number - it’s actually the scammers’. Don’t ring it, just ignore and cancel the payment request. PayPal have said they know about this scam already.

Got an email that looks exactly like what others are saying about "Avast one". It said something like I've paid £579.99 to AVAST ONE and if I didn't do this, I should call their support on +44-800-058-4350. I've already sent it on to Paypal and now just waiting to hear back from them.

If you didn’t make this payment, call Customer Support at +44-800-058-4350.’ Don’t fall for it, it’s a scam!!! That number has nothing to do with PayPal. Stay safe and don’t ring it!

Just like a lot of folks here, I’ve had a run-in with this too. Totally a con! I’ve flagged it, blocked the number, and called it off. The name showing up was ‘Michael Housel’ trying to charge me £579.99 for something called AVAST ONE.

I've stopped the payment on my PayPal and filed a complaint with them, warning that if they don’t sort this out, I’ll be reporting them to the financial ombudsman for not keeping customers safe from scams. I’ve also told PayPal not to let any more money requests go through my account - if I want to send money, I’ll make sure I know exactly who I’m paying!

Got the exact same thing today - a demand for £579.99 from AVAST ONE. The email looked legit, coming from PayPal, just telling me someone tried to get money from my account. I reckon they’ve got some sort of list with PayPal users’ details. Anyway, I logged into my PayPal and stopped the payment straight away.

Got a payment alert just like the others folks have mentioned here. It said something along the lines of "You’ve paid £579.99 GBP to AVAST ONE. If this wasn’t you, get in touch with Customer Support." The name shown on mine was "Terrell Grant". I ended up sending the email to PayPal’s phishing report address since I couldn’t find a better place to flag it. What’s a bit unsettling is I only recently downloaded the free Avast antivirus. Wondering if anyone else who’s had this scam has also got that software, or if it’s just a random coincidence. Makes me question where they might have nabbed my email from.

Honestly, I wouldn’t bother calling that number. From what I’ve heard, it’s usually a waste of time and can even lead to annoying calls back. Lots of people say it’s tied to telemarketers or scams, so it’s better just to avoid it altogether. Just my two cents!

Just to warn everyone, THIS IS DEFINTELY A SCAM. Don’t ring that number or accept any requests, and if you see something like this on PayPal, make sure to cancel it right away. I got a payment request on 19 December 2022 around midday that showed £579.99 with a note claiming I’d paid Avast One. The status said CANCELLED thankfully, but the message told me to call +44-800-058-4350 if I didn’t authorise it. Stay safe and don’t fall for this!

Got this exact call recently... all the info matched what was said before. Odd since I'm quite certain I closed my PayPal account ages ago. The email looked legit too, coming straight from PayPal's actual domain. Honestly, that place is just a magnet for scammers, can't get why anyone still trusts it.
