Got a text saying something about a 557.87 quid payment to Argos with a code 0#457468Santander, warning me not to give the code to anyone. It had a number to ring back 0800 058 4174 if I hadn’t done it. Turns out it’s a total scam, so don’t bother calling that number. The message showed up from +44 7845 807296. Stay careful, folks!

Got a call from +44-800-058 saying I’d been charged £899.99 for ESET NOD32, which I never paid for. The message said if I didn’t authorise it to ring their so-called customer service at +44-800-058-4174. It looked fishy and definitely a scam to me. The transaction ID was U-30409731FN697281S and mentioned a date of 16 December 2022. Just beware of this one!

Received a call from +44-800-058-4174 claiming to be from Paypal about a suspicious payment. The request showed up in my Paypal account as a PAYMENT REQUEST, not an actual transaction, with a dodgy message saying money had already been taken. I immediately cancelled it and informed Paypal about the scam. Really annoyed this sneaked into my account. Avoid calling this number at all costs.

Like what others have said, I got a dodgy payment request through Paypal which is pretty worrying. The annoying thing is you can’t cancel it easily and there’s no clear way to report it as a scam to Paypal. ESET NOD32 looks like some kind of cybersecurity company, do you reckon they’re aware of this problem?

This is definitely dodgy. They send you a PayPal payment request and sneak in a fake phone number. If you ring that number, you’ll end up chatting with a call centre that tries to trick you into giving them your security info. Even when you check your PayPal, the bogus number shows up on the note. Best thing to do is just cancel the whole request straight away.

Just like loads of others, I’ve stopped the payment and sent it over to the phishing team. The message says: You’ve sent £899.99 GBP to ESET NOD32. If you didn’t authorise this, ring Customer Support at +44-800-058-4174. The request comes from someone called Selena Wilson. The worst part is there’s no real way to mark this as fraud. This was on my business account which we’ve already told PayPal to shut down.

Don't even bother ringing the number on that note. They asked for 899 but acted like it was already paid, then told me to call a number to cancel an unauthorised payment - which wasn’t the official PayPal contact at all. Bit daft, especially around the holidays.
