I've been bombarded with text messages from what appears to be Santander, claiming there's a payment of over £1500 that’s due. Both messages were for amounts exceeding that figure. They provided a number to ring if anything seems amiss. Quite the dodgy situation, I must say!

Just like the initial comment, I'm curious if Paypal has taken any action regarding this matter.

I’ve received a rather suspicious message alleging that there’s a fraudulent tax claim associated with my name, instructing me to press 1 to get in touch with my HMRC representative. Straight into the blocked numbers list with that one!

Absolutely a con! I received what seemed to be a genuine email from PayPal, only to find a request for £899 that shockingly showed up in my actual PayPal account. This transpired just yesterday afternoon, on the 15th of December. Being situated in Amsterdam, it's clear that this is a widespread international rip-off. PLEASE, steer clear of clicking that link or dialling the provided phone number. The email was nearly a carbon copy of the initial message posted here.

I received an email this morning stating "£899.99 GBP for ESET NOD32" - no doubt about it, it’s a complete scam!

Beware of this dubious phone number that's been associated with a PayPal scam. I received a rather misleading email purportedly from PayPal, titled "Action Required: Money Request". However, the sender included a fabricated fraud alert, instructing the recipient to ring a number for assistance. For instance: MESSAGE FROM <fictitious_name>: You've authorized a transfer of £899.99 GBP to Bit Defender LLC. Should this not be your transaction, please reach out to our customer service at +44-800-058-4142. Details of the payment request: Transaction ID - <confidential_info> Date of transaction - 15 December 2022 Amount requested - £899.99 GBP Once you call that number, the call centre operatives will try to wheedle out your PayPal or banking details, with the intent of pilfering your funds. Stay alert!

I find myself in the same situation. Oddly enough, they assert that I’ve made a payment, yet at the same time, I received a request for another payment! Quite the puzzling turn of events, wouldn’t you say? :)

I've just experienced a similar incident myself. It seems like someone is out there trying to gather funds for the festive season today.

Much like before, I’ve noticed that there’s a pending request languishing in my actual PayPal account. I had a hunch that perhaps ringing that number or tapping on any associated link might set something off. After managing to speak with a legitimate representative from PayPal, they assured me that they were aware of these calls. They also mentioned that a note has been added to my account. I found out I could either dismiss the request online or simply let it be, as it would automatically fade away after 30 days. I’ve decided to leave it as is and allow it to run its course until it eventually expires.

Just received a dodgy request for cash from this Victor Ramirez chap. He claims I’ve forked out £899.99 to Bit Defender LLC. Now, if this payment isn’t right, he suggests ringing their customer support at +44-800-058-4142. Seems utterly fishy to me! Definitely a scam, folks!

This morning, I received an identical email and noticed that a payment was listed as pending in my PayPal account, giving me the option to either proceed with the payment or cancel. Naturally, I opted to cancel and got in touch with PayPal using their official phone line. They assured me it was indeed a scam and that cancelling would ensure no funds would be withdrawn.

Absolutely, I received an identical email for the same sum as well. What’s rather concerning, though, is that this one comes from a proper PayPal email address.

This appears to be a rather dubious payment demand from someone claiming to be Ahmed Mohamed, but it’s really a request for money disguised as a payment. You’d be expected to part with your cash, which is alarmingly easy to do with just a click.

Absolutely, it’s a blatant scam trying to swindle you through a fake PayPal email. If they assert they've initiated a money request from your PayPal account, just head straight to the official PayPal site to cancel it-don’t use any links provided in the dodgy email. And steer clear of that phone number listed there as well; it’s all part of the ruse. Stay sharp!

It's rather troubling, isn't it? I've encountered a scam too - had the same transaction pop up a staggering eleven times in my PayPal account! Had to go through the hassle of cancelling each one. Why on earth can't PayPal address these pesky initial requests more efficiently? It's certainly a cause for concern.
