Got an automated call from EDF demanding payment for a bill. They ring and leave messages like 4 times which is proper annoying. I ended up calling EDF because my bill wasn’t even due for a month yet. They told me there was a fault in their system for a bit. They fixed it afterwards. Haven’t had any calls since.

I got rung up three times in half an hour by a number that looked a bit off. Normally I just ignore dodgy numbers and google them before even thinking about picking up. DO NOT TRUST THIS NUMBER! It pretends to be EDF but it’s definitely not. When I called, an automated message asked me to give some kind of “security checks” before letting me hear any voicemail. They wanted me to provide my work phone number (?) and some digits from my postcode. Then they told me the postcode numbers were wrong (which makes no sense) and tried to put me through to a person - but no one ever answered.

EDF kept hassling me for money even though I’d been keeping up with my payments through bank transfers, which I chose over their direct debit setup.

I told them straight I’d switch suppliers if the constant calls didn’t stop and demanded they take me off their auto-dialling reminders/harassment list. Also mentioned I’d report them to the energy ombudsman if they carried on.

That got them to back off eventually!
