They say they’re from my new service company doing checks on the switch over, telling me not to ring them back and to just hang up. Bit weird, right? Not really harmful but pretty annoying. Best to just block and forget about it.3 yearsFor the past couple of days, this number has been calling me repeatedly, but when I pick up, there’s just silence and then an automated voice telling me to hang up. When I tried calling it back, an automated message played saying it’s from my new service provider checking that the switch went smoothly, but then it warns me not to get in touch with them. Shell Energy took over my broadband and phone services some time ago, but on 25th July 2023 I received a letter (dated 14th July) explaining their system was being upgraded and everything would be back to normal by the end of the day. The odd thing is the letter arrived exactly on the day they were meant to be working on it, and the upgrade actually happened the next day, on the 26th. Since then, these odd calls have started. I contacted Shell Energy’s customer support but they had no idea about any such test calls and suggested I report the number. It’s really suspicious how the timing of the technology change coincides with these troubling calls.
