Phone number ☎️ 08000488301 πŸ‘† is reported as the genuine Santander fraud prevention number, primarily used for automated calls and texts alerting customers to suspicious card activity. Many users confirmed it as legitimate after verifying through official Santander contacts, highlighting its role in blocking fraudulent transactions and issuing replacement cards. However, some flagged instances where scammers impersonated the number, especially targeting those without Santander accounts. A common recommendation is to never provide full card details or PINs directly and to verify the call by contacting Santander via the number on the back of your debit/credit card. While the service is praised for preventing financial losses, exercising caution and contacting the bank independently for confirmation is strongly advised.

This isnt Santander, its some company called Allay, a claims firm, I blocked them!

If its really Santander, why are they ringing me up about some dodgy transaction on my account WHEN I’VE NEVER held an account or any financial products with them? I’d be super careful about sharing any personal details, this sounds like a proper scam to me.

Its really annoying when someone calls and just hangs up as soon as you pick up, plus its quite unprofessional especially if its a TPS registered business number they’re ringing and then dropping the call straight away.

Got a call from Santander’s fraud team recently. They put a stop to dodgy payments and sent me messages to get in touch with them. The only pin they want is the one they text you - they never ask for any card info. A few weeks back, someone tried to use my card for some 'free trials' scam, but I sorted it out with this number. Today they rang after stopping a suspicious £70 payment and asked me to confirm if it was legit. Told them it wasn’t, and now they’ve blocked that company from taking anything more from my account.

I've heard this number is linked to Santander, but I don’t have an account with them, so that’s a bit suspicious. Others mention they get asked for their security info, which sounds really dodgy to me. Feels like a total scam. Stay careful and don’t trust it!

They kept ringing me on my mobile and landline loads of times, and I only picked up after the 6th call. Glad I did! Turns out, they stopped loads of unauthorised payments from happening, cancelled my card and sent a replacement. Seriously, these guys are real! Don’t ignore it, answering might actually save you some cash.

I’ve never had a Santander account and don’t have one now, so I just ignored what was clearly a scam call. After they rang me 3 times within 3 hours, I went ahead and blocked the number.

Got a text from Santander about an attempted payment on my account by Digital River over in Ireland. Didn’t know the name, so I was a bit wary if it was legit. Then got an email from Kaspersky saying the payment for my yearly online security update didn’t go through, and the email came from an address like [email protected] river. So I looked them up and found out they handle regular online payments for lots of companies as an ecommerce platform. They work with big names like Panasonic and PayPal, so it seems all above board.

Got a call from this number round 8:15 this morning. It’s definitely a bank scam. A few weeks back, my card was cancelled by the bank after some dodgy activity happened on my account. So seeing this number ring me now just feels suspicious.

At first, I figured it must be a scam. It was actually my daughter they were trying to reach. She called her bank's fraud team straight away, and it turned out someone was attempting to withdraw money from her account. If you're ever doubtful, it’s best to get in touch with them yourself just to be safe.

Honestly, this really freaked me out. Back in March, I got a call from this number and actually rang them back. Now I’m sat here watching Watchdog and they keep saying Santander deals with these scams all the time. The number does show it’s the fraud department, but it’s still really unsettling how simple it is to get caught out. - caller: Santander

I got a call from someone saying they were from Santander and they asked for the pin on the back of my card. I told them no way, I’m not giving that out. It felt really dodgy, quite weird tbh.

I got a message on my answerphone from this number but it sounded off. They used my name, but it didn’t seem quite right, like it was just thrown into some automated recording. Then when they tried to say a three-digit code, there was a pause and nothing was actually said. The same number has rung me a few times since, but as soon as my answerphone kicks in, they just hang up. They usually start blabbering even before my machine starts recording. It’s clearly a scam - if it was really my bank’s fraud team, I’d expect a real person to call, not some robotic voice. After that nonsense call, I’ve done bank stuff with no problems at all.

It's definitely Santander - this number is legit for them. I got a couple of voicemails from them, so I rang back and they knew it was me. After running a few security checks (I wasn't put under too much pressure to give info), they confirmed six purchases on my account I made.

They claimed to be from Santander fraud dept, but when I went through the options it asked for a pin from a voicemail or something, which I didn’t have. Seems like a dodgy number to me. Also, it doesn’t show up in any official lists when I searched for Santander fraud contacts.

I got a suspicious text early this morning, around 6am, supposedly from Santander. It said I'd get another message from 07860020554 to verify some activity on my account. The instructions were to reply 'Y' to confirm or 'N' with a 3-digit pin (878) or call 0800 048 8301. A few hours later, I received an automated phone call claiming to be Santander's fraud department, urging me to ring 0800 048 8301 and use the pin 878. This is clearly a phishing attempt, so I advise everybody not to respond or call back.

It was Santander who called me - I found it a bit fishy so I phoned them up myself. Turns out my card was being used online without my permission. This might be a call centre working with several banks but it's legit. Best thing to do is call your own bank and get through to their fraud team. Always safer to double check.

THIS NUMBER SHOWED UP IN MY MISSED CALLS LIST. I’VE NEVER HAD A SANTANDER ACCOUNT, SO THIS HAS TO BE SOME SORT OF SCAM. DON’T SHARE ANY DETAILS WITH THEM. JUST TELL THEM TO GET LOST, HANG UP STRAIGHT AWAY, AND BLOCK THE NUMBER. TRUST ME, THAT’S THE BEST THING YOU CAN DO.

Got a call from 08000488301 with an automated voice. It felt a bit off, so I ended the call and rang my bank straight away. They told me it was a SCAM and not a number they use. They told me to watch my account closely and report anything unusual. There’s a chance my account info may have been at risk. When unsure, just hang up and contact your bank yourself!

I got a call on our landline from 0800488301, which I later found out is a genuine Santander fraud line. While my wife was at work today, they rang me. When she got back, I told her about the call and she mentioned she'd actually got a text from the same number, something about the fraud team. She called them back and spoke to a really nice woman who explained they were concerned about potential fraud on her account. This all kicked off a few weeks ago when my wife ordered some free face cream samples, thinking they were from Debenhams. She only paid the postage but missed a tiny note saying they’d start charging after a month. The first charge was a whopping £78! Thankfully, Santander spotted it quick and blocked the payment right away. Big thanks to them for sorting it out!

Somebody rang me and wanted to know if I was my granddaughter and told me to press a number if I wasn’t. I did, then they wondered if she could be reached on a different number, so I pressed another number to say no. They asked if I had any questions and gave me a number to ring back. The caller was actually an automated message claiming to be from Santander fraud team, so I just ended the call. Didn’t give out any info at all.

Since I dont have a Santander account theres no way this was their genuine fraud department, so anybody saying this number is safe is either mistaken or trying to scam you.

This looks like Santander's real automated fraud line. The message only asks you to confirm some info by picking from a menu, usually your birth date. It’ll then list recent transactions on your account, and if you spot anything strange, you press the right button. Just remember, a genuine automated call like this will NEVER ask for your PIN, passcodes or anything like that. If they do, don’t put anything in - ring your bank straight away.

I was driving when the phone rang the second time and couldn't pick up. When I got back, I checked the number online and saw loads of people saying it's a scam. It’s called me again now but I’m not going to bother answering it.

I gave the bank a quick call and they said there’s no record of anything dodgy going on. Pretty sure this is just a scam.

Got a text from Santander Fraud team earlier. First, they sent me a message about some transactions, then another asking if I knew about them. I replied no and right after, this number rang me. Just to be sure, I rang the usual Santander helpline and they said it was genuinely their fraud department. - caller: Santander Fraud Team

Today, 30/04/2017, I got two calls from 08000488301. On the second one, they left a voicemail claiming to be from Santander's fraud team, gave me a three-digit code and told me to ring back on the same number and enter the code. Then I got an automated message asking questions like my birth date. I hung up straight away and tried to call Santander's official customer service to check if this was legit. Sadly, I’ve been stuck on hold for over 6 minutes now and it’s burning through my mobile credit. I was planning to visit my bank tomorrow to freeze my account but it’s a bank holiday, so they're closed. I’ll have to report it in person when I finally can; I start work at 7am and finish 5pm, plus there’s no Santander branch near my workplace, so it'll be tricky to sort out!

Got a voicemail on my home phone claiming it was Santander's Fraud Team wanting to reach me straight away. At first I nearly fell for it but then it hit me, this wasn't from Santander at all. So I rang up their official support line to sort things out and secured my account right away. After that, I just prayed and left everything in God's hands, thank heavens for that.

Got a call from Santander’s fraud team, seemed legit, they didn’t ask for personal details like those scammers do. You just have to pick your birthdate from a few choices and then enter a security code.

I got a voicemail and a text saying there was some fraud spotted on my account. I rang the usual bank number just to be sure. They told me it was legit, saying it was because a payment I tried at Iceland got declined. They asked me to reply Y to the text to verify it was actually me making the payment.

Yeah, it really was Santander’s anti-fraud team. Got a text from them about a one-time big debit card payment on my current account. The SMS had a PIN that I put in. Then they sent me another message with a different 0800 number (08001513151) which I rang up and checked the payment was legit. It’s definitely real but feels a bit dodgy, so I doubt I’ll go for it again!

They said they were from Santander and told me there was suspicious activity on my account. Don’t answer or just block this number. I went straight to Santander's official site to check and this number isn’t legit. It was definitely a scam trying to steal my info. Santander wouldn’t reach out like that.

This is a legit Santander fraud line, but I still wouldn’t pick up. You'll probably get a message from them too, which you shouldn’t reply to. Instead, head over to Santander’s official site and find the fraud department number (last I checked it was 0800 9 123 123). Call that number and talk to someone who you know is definitely from the bank. They can verify the call, the message, and whatever’s going on. The number isn’t dodgy, but to be safe, never chat about anything personal on a random incoming call.

I called it back and got an automated message asking me to choose from 3 options the month and year of my birth. I put in the right one. Then it like knew my name and said it out loud. After that, it wanted me to enter my exact birth date. That’s when I just hung up. Feels like a trick to get you comfortable but also a sneaky way to find out your real birthday - perfect info for scammers. If this really is from a bank, it’s a pretty stupid mistake from their side, considering they’re meant to be experts at this stuff.

I got a call and a couple of texts from 07860020554 about some suspicious activity on my debit card, saying there was a charge I didn’t know about. I wanted to be sure it was legit, so I messaged Santander through their Facebook page. They replied pretty quickly, within 5 minutes, saying the number is genuine. They also gave me a number to ring back: 0800 9123 123. I phoned them, and they’ve blocked my card and are sending a replacement. If I need cash before the new one gets here, I’ll have to pop into my local branch with some photo ID.

Its Santander calling - i phoned one of their main numbers off their site, they put me through security and said it was for real. I was a bit unsure about the number so I rang Santander directly. They asked me a few security questions and everything seemed legit. Still, thinking someone might keep the call open after hanging up, I decided to pop into my nearby branch just down the road. They checked and confirmed the number and all the other details were definitely genuine. If there's a chance someone can fake this number on caller ID, it’s safer to contact Santander using a phone number from their official website and from a different phone.

This number is definitely a scam pretending to be Santander's fraud team. Honestly, anyone saying it’s legit is either super naive or probs involved in the con, trying to trick you into trusting it. The real Fraud Squad know about this and it’s a scam coming from Africa; they’re working with other countries to catch these criminals. Don’t reply to any texts without double-checking with your bank using a phone or device different from the one they messaged you on. Just be careful, you’ve been given a heads up - don’t fall for it!

This number kept calling me nonstop all day on Christmas Eve right up until about 9pm, then again at 8.30 on Boxing Day. I didn’t think banks worked during those hours. Pretty clear this is a major scam and the people behind it are total low-lifes. They really deserve to be locked away. BE CAREFUL AND PROTECT YOUR CASH.

Got a scam call, claiming to be Santander, saying I needed to put in a pin code after a text supposedly from them. It was some automated voice with an African name mentioned. Kept ringing so I ended up blocking the number. I guess they’re faking the caller ID to look legit. The real fraud team from Santander called me before and they just asked me to press a key to verify transactions, never asked for a pin. Makes me wonder how they even know I use Santander.

Got a text saying it was from Santander's fraud team, mentioning a bunch of places I've never set foot in. They gave me a phone number and a 3-digit code to use when calling, so I just ignored it. Then about an hour later, I got a robo call saying they were from Santander fraud, but they pronounced my name like some really suspicious African name. Blocked the number straight away. Funny thing is, I’m not even with Santander. Total scam, very sketchy.

This number rang me twice, once on Sunday night and again Monday morning, but left no voicemail. I looked it up here and gave them a call back. I felt uneasy sharing my info since the person on the line didn’t confirm they were actually from Santander. So I phoned Santander directly at 0800 9 123 123 and they told me they hadn’t tried contacting me at all and there wasn’t anything unusual with my account. Looks like a total scam to me.

Had a call from what sounded like Santander’s fraud team, but to be sure I rang their official customer service number. They confirmed it was indeed a legit fraud alert. They put me through to an automated system where I had to verify some personal details and punch in a three-digit code left on my voicemail. Everything checked out with my transactions, so it seems like they’re doing their job, though it did give me a bit of a fright given my age!
