Got a missed call on my landline today at 15.36 from the number 20.02.2025. It popped up as a possible nuisance. They left a voicemail pretending to be BT, and there was a bit to listen to about BT text messages. I tried to replay it by pressing option 1 but then the message just stopped - ended up cancelled by whoever called. There should've been an option 4 but I couldn’t find it, which makes me think it might be dodgy. Seems fishy!

I nearly fell for a scam but lucky for me I had my missus’s phone handy. We used it to ring the fraud advice line, which lets you know if a call is legit or just some scammy rubbish. You can find their number or email by looking it up on Google or in your internet browser. Just give them a shout and ask for help. Just a few posts further down, you’ll find instructions for reporting scams like this to the authorities - the police, National Cyber Security Centre and Ofcom have set up a system for it. It’s clear no one’s used it yet, or this number would’ve been blocked and tracked ages ago. That link also has some handy info that helps cybercrime teams do their job. I’m on the TPS list, so I shouldn’t be getting calls or texts from companies I’ve never dealt with. Yet I get a message saying: "We've been trying to reach you about your energy tariff. Looks like they’ve switched things up, moved on from ringing me to sending texts instead. Reckon it’s ’cause they keep getting blocked on calls.

This bloke won’t stop bothering me and now he’s pretending to be from the energy company to get me to pick up. I’m pretty sure he’s actually a cop who acted inappropriately at my workplace. Today alone he’s rung me about a dozen times and I haven't dared to answer once. Honestly, it’s really unsettling.

Received a message from the energy team saying they’d been trying to reach me regarding my energy tariff and to call & fix now. I just ignored it and didn’t reply.

I got a message saying I need to get in touch about my energy, but after looking up the name, the real website isn't linked to my gas or electricity provider at all. Seems pretty dodgy to me. From what I’ve read in UK news, this kind of thing is often a scam targeting people who might be more vulnerable. Definitely felt a bit uneasy about it.

Yesterday I got a call from someone calling themselves the ‘Energy Team’ trying to chat about my energy prices. I gave them a bit of my attention but quickly said I was happy with what I’ve got then ended the call. Today, there was a message left asking me to ring back on 080004748402 to sort out my tariffs. I’m definitely not going to bother calling them back. 10/10/24.

Got a text saying the 'energy team' had been ringing me... I did get a few calls from this number and another that popped up as BT, looked dodgy so I blocked both. Guess that’s why they switched to texting instead! After looking it up here, it’s clear this is linked to an energy fraud attempt.

I blocked this number ages ago but it just won’t stop calling me. Now, they’ve even gone as far as sending me a text, which I’m about to bin. Proper scammers, honestly.
