There should be a couple of posts explaining what steps to take if you want to put an end to these scammers stealing from vulnerable folks and pestering the rest of us. It does need some commitment but I’ve started reporting scam calls and texts straight to the police database (I keep the link in my favourites). Sadly, it’ll take loads of people making these reports before we see any real change, but thousands do report scams on this site daily. You won't see instant results if you bother, but if nobody acts, nothing changes and these scam calls just keep on going.

SCAM ALERT! Make sure you report any scam calls straight to the police fraud database. Just search for ‘action fraud’ and head over to the ‘police.uk’ website. Find the ‘report phishing attempt’ section and carefully read all the instructions. After that, fill in the details about the scam, including any website links you have. You don’t need to sign up or give personal info unless you’ve actually lost money to a scam. Reporting every suspicious call or text is the best way for the police to keep track of these scams trying to rip us off.

Got a prerecorded voice saying they cant be contacted even tho they just rang me. Told me to go online to take myself off their list. They said they were The IVA advisor - I dont owe anything and ive already blocked the number.

I didn’t pick up since I wasn’t expecting any calls and I don’t have this number saved. They didn’t leave a voicemail or anything, so it must not be urgent.

Got a missed call so just deleted it.

Got a call on my phone around 6.20pm from someone saying they were with an IVA debt firm. They said they could sort out my debts even if I wasn’t sure I owed anything. I knew straight away it was dodgy because surely you’d know if you owed money. They asked if I had any rent, council tax, gas or electric bills unpaid. When I said no, they just hung up.
