Terrible experience. I was trying to set up McAfee, kept getting a firewall error. Then they passed me to a someone who said they could "sort it out" for £70 plus a 3 year protection deal. They took control of my laptop, totally scammed me. They even snapped a photo with my webcam and said I looked lovely!!! I never paid them once I realised what was happening quick enough, but now I’m worried if my laptop’s safe :(

I found myself unable to download McAfee, so I reached out to their customer service. After a bit of back and forth, I was redirected to a person who identified themselves as part of AOI Solutions. They seemed to take control of my computer remotely and insisted that I had a Trojan virus, charging me a hefty £99.99 in the process. However, when I eventually contacted McAfee again, they assured me that the call was legitimate - though it definitely didn't feel right to me.

Got a call from 08000418057 saying they needed to renew my firewall because apparently they couldn’t do it remotely anymore, even though they had been doing it for the last year after I let them access my laptop and paid £70. I got a bit wary and looked it up, found this page and felt proper daft. Now I’m stuck with their rubbish software - can I just remove it myself or should I get a professional to sort it out?

I tried installing Norton on my laptop and kept getting the same error. I contacted Norton's chat support, who said they'd fix it. Then this firm called AO1 took control of my computer and did a bunch of stuff, asking for £99.95. Didn’t pay them because it felt dodgy. Looks like Norton might be tied up with these guys and probably get a share, so Norton's just as much to blame. I’ve got my 12-month protection now but no clue what AO1 actually did!!! Stay clear of these lot!!!

These AOL tech support numbers 0800 041 8978, 0800 041 8056, 0800 041 8432 are total scams. I called the one ending in 8056, spoke to an Asian bloke who asked if I wanted a refund. When I gave him my name, he just cut the call straight away. Complete con!

Spoke to these lot yesterday. Felt a bit off about them so I checked online. Turns out it's a scam. Now trying to sort out a refund for a 3-year subscription costing £99.75. Didn’t give them my card info, but I paid via PayPal.

I just attempted to set up McAfee on my new laptop but it stopped halfway through with an error message. Then, a screen popped up offering tech support. I spoke to them, and they said someone from their tech team called me back and fixed the problem remotely. Afterwards, they told me the issue would be handed over to AOI Tech Solutions and that it would cost £99 for three years of protection. 08000418056 is an absolute scam. Everything seemed so legit at first; I really thought I was setting up McAfee antivirus. Like others mentioned, I typed in the 25-digit code but then got an error message. I called that number and, daft as I was, let them access my computer. It wasn’t until they asked for payment that I started to get wary. I finally installed McAfee properly and ran a thorough virus check - everything looks fine for now - but I won’t be able to have my laptop properly checked until after the Coronavirus lockdown ends.

AOi tech solutions messin with my security, I was just following the steps on the card to download McAfee. It started fine, then a message popped up saying there was a problem. A freephone number showed up, turned out it was AOi solutions. They claimed my firewall was rubbish, my IP was exposed and my PC had a Trojan. I ended up getting scammed, so don't trust these people. Seriously, had a terrible experience.

You should probably put Glasgow on your list too, I got ripped off by this fake tech firm claiming to install McAfee on the 10th of this month. Looking back, I’m annoyed with myself for falling for it, but I just went with what the McAfee card said. I say looking back because the phone kept ringing and people were chatting all the time - clearly a dodgy call centre. Why haven’t the authorities shut them down yet?

A. O i tech solutions, was tryin to download McAfee security, did the 3 step thing for the 25 digit code, first part went alright, then suddenly, a mistake popped up and the freephone number showed up for help. Rang them and that was when the trouble started. Believed what they said, but turns out total scammers. When I woke up to what was going on, called them again, they asked me to buy a prepay card, asked about my bank, said no online banking. When I called back, they were rude and actually laughed at me. Said my issue was no security 👎

It got posted thrice cos these dodgy lot have a bunch of different numbers. These scammers have completely slowed my PC down. I saw on another website they've been at it for like a decade, which makes me wonder, if big companies like Microsoft, Google and McAfee are aware of them, why haven’t they been shut down? They’ve got the means, we don’t.

I was trying to get McAfee downloaded and suddenly these lot took control of my PC, telling me I had a virus named Asprox Botnet. They said they’d connect me with AO1 Tech Solutions to fix it and keep my IP safe from hackers! They wanted £139 for the ‘service’ and remotely controlled my computer!! Watch out for this scam!

When i tried to set up mcafee on my new laptop, i ended up on some weird aoi site. The legit mcafee software removed everything dodgy they installed. Fingers crossed everything’s alright now. Ive also cancelled my bank cards and switched all my passwords just to be safe.

I attempted to install McAfee, but the download simply wouldn't cooperate. Shortly after, I received a call claiming to be from McAfee, insisting that I required a firewall upgrade. They then transferred me to some company called AOI Solutions, who wanted to charge me £99.99 and took control of my computer remotely. They're expected to ring back today for payment. I told them they had to send their bank details first, as I certainly wasn't sharing my own. I'm still waiting to hear back and have a nagging feeling I've fallen victim to a scam, yet thankfully, no money has changed hands-at least not yet.

I encountered a right dodgy individual attempting to con me out of cash, claiming my computer had been compromised. They even went so far as to disable my device.
