The number first got in touch with me back in Dec 2025, claiming to be from Zone firewall. When I asked for more info, they suddenly got quite rude, so I just ended the call. They didn’t stop calling though; they also used another number, 08000485987. For a few days they kept ringing, but I didn’t answer, and they eventually stopped. However, the calls started again on 25th Jan 2026, with them calling once or twice a day. I haven’t answered any of these recent calls.

Somebody called me from 08000418066, but since the number was unfamiliar, I didn’t pick up. Later, they left a voicemail claiming to be from an IT firm and asked me to ring them back. When I listened to the message, something about the way they spoke just felt off and suspicious. Just a heads up - watch out for that number!

Since coming back from my holidays in mid June, I've had quite a few calls from people insisting I owe a licence fee of about £166 for my computer. They’re really pushing to sort it out as soon as I got back!

If a number I don’t recognise calls me and lets my phone ring just enough to hear part of my unique ringtone then ends the call, I block them straight away. Proper callers always ring back the right way if it’s important. Easy as that.

Just got a call from 080004180066, and this bloke on the other end was going on about some Windriver 2 installation, claiming I'd already paid £79. I have no clue what he was talking about, so I ended the call sharpish. No sign of him calling again since, thankfully. Sounds like another dodgy scam to me.

I reckon this number is linked to a group that scammed me a while back. They've made a few attempts to nick my info since then and even managed to lock up my computer. Honestly, don’t trust them at all!

Got a call from someone saying they were from Zone Firewall, trying to get into my laptop. This guy sounded South African, which was different from the usual Asian-American scam calls I get. We’re not falling for that nonsense. Blocked the number straight away.

Got a call from someone saying they were Canon support, saying my computer had issues. They wanted to sell me some computer and driver support packages, ranging from about £50 up to £200, claiming it was for lifetime repairs. They got remote access to my PC and said they fixed the problems and updated drivers. Turns out, it was a scam and I lost £149.99 for services that were basically fake. Seriously, stay away and don’t ever ring back these numbers - 0800 048 5987 or 0800 041 8066.

Last week I got a call from someone claiming to be from ZoneFirewall, said they were helping me upgrade since I supposedly had their software. They somehow got remote access to my PC, but the moment I realised what was going on, I just switched the computer off straight away. The guy definitely wasn't pleased. Total con artist in my opinion.

I got a call about my printer and some "Driver Update Tool" from HP, or so they said. I spent about 20 minutes going through every bit of my computer, deleting stuff and then they tried to install what seemed like a fake HP program. Luckily, my web guy checked it out and I ended up cutting them all off - total scam! I grabbed the number thinking it was legit HP, since it seemed really believable. The call started from Miami, then suddenly another one came from India. After reconnecting, they called me again an hour later, so I just blocked the lot.

I got a call from someone saying they were from Canon support. I had accidentally thought the support site was legit. I was trying to get some support for my Cricut machine and ended up chatting with someone I assumed was from the Cricut team. They took control of my laptop remotely and claimed there were loads of problems to fix. Then they handed me over to another person who promised to 'sort out' the issues. Now my laptop won’t even boot up. Honestly, avoid these people at all costs. I've lost £100 and now have to pay a proper technician to sort my laptop. Feel completely foolish for falling for it. Definitely won’t be so careless next time!

Just got a call from someone claiming to be Canon support right after I was trying to set up drivers for my new printer on my laptop. I gave them access to my laptop, and about 20 minutes later, after they’d remotely looked through loads of my files, they rang back saying my Windows licence wasn’t valid and offered to sort it for me - for a price. They had a few plans, somewhere between £99 and £150. They also warned me my network wasn’t secure and that I was at serious risk of being hacked. Honestly, I feel proper daft for letting them in like that.

Total scam, dont fall for it! They pretend to be from McAfee but they just want your money to "fix" your computer. My PC was fine, but they kept hassling me for cash while making me wait for ages.
