A bloke with a male voice rang me and wanted me to verify if I lived at the address he mentioned. I didn’t share any info and asked what the issue was. He said he was from Western Power and that British Gas had gotten in touch about the power outages we were supposedly experiencing, which we definitely haven’t had. I told him I’d speak to British Gas on my own and ended the call. Didn’t feel right about the whole thing at all.

Yeah, like others here mentioned, Western Power is trying to check and update their list of vulnerable power users. They’ve got me listed as a pensioner with vulnerabilities and managed to confirm my account info. They said I could confirm by post too, and would send a pre-paid envelope, which I chose. I was happy about it and thanked them, as I’m quite old and have ongoing health problems. If you save this number in your phone, it’ll show up when they call.

Western Power looks after the electricity supply. They have a vulnerable persons register so those folk get priority if theres a power outage. Check out the comment from 23/10/18 for more info, also 6/12/18. A lot of people on here seem to misunderstand. It's defo legit and safe.

Didn’t know the number so I ignored it. Then they called back straight away and left a voicemail. They said they were from Western Power and it’s something to do with me being on a priority list in case of power cuts? They’re sending me some details through the post. I’m actually with npower though. Weirdly, the number showed up with the full UK international dialling code.
