Just to add to what I said earlier, it’s tricky with this number - some folks say it’s legit, others tag it as a con. When I got the call, the bloke spoke with a thick North West English accent and was hard to understand. It didn’t sound like someone from a proper company at all, so I thought it might be a scam. Still, he rattled off info that seemed legit enough for Barclays. Makes me wonder if their systems got compromised? My partner received a call from this number from a woman speaking with a Newcastle accent. She claimed to be from Barclays commercial team to chat about an offer. There's a scammer out there masquerading as Barclaycard. It’s rather disturbing, to say the least. Funny enough, it was just like one of those business card offers they send to Barclays self-employed clients. They told me to ring back tomorrow at 9.15am since they’re out with the company today. I’m definitely going to get in touch with Barclays fraud department to check if the call’s legit. There’s so many scammers these days. This number is a SCAM. The person sounded very confident and professional. I questioned them and they said I could verify their identity through my Barclays app. No alert showed up on my app though. I then asked them to send the credit card offer by email, which they said they would, but I never received anything. Got calls from Barclays credit card, seems like they’re trying to get hold of me but all I hear is some weird noise on their side. They keep ringing non stop and it’s getting really annoying.

Totally a scam, no doubt. I rang Barclaycard and they confirmed the number isn’t theirs at all. Just by looking at the digits, they knew straight away it’s a con.

Its a total SCAM! I contacted Barclaycard directly and they told me the call wasnt from them. They said they would NEVER phone people to pitch services or cards like that. Really sneaky trick. The person on the line tried to sell me a Business Barclaycard and was literally reading off the T&Cs and perks from Barclays’ site. Dont get fooled by this!

Nice bloke who rang me, knew my personal info and bank details which made me feel a bit better since I heard it might be a scam before, so I was cautious. I ended up taking the commercial card deal they offered cos it gives cashback. Top guy and really good service, especially for someone like me who was doubtful at first! If you’re unsure, just google the number, look for the Barclaycard page about the select cashback business credit card, scroll to minimum repayment section, click to expand it and you’ll see the exact same number 0800 029 4864 listed there.

A polite woman who knew my first name called, saying they'd figured out from my Barclay credit card spending that I was self employed and running a small business, offering me a business card. I found it fishy! I only use my card for holidays and fun stuff. No one would guess I’m self employed, plus I’ve had this card long before I was self employed. Seems like the number was faked. She just guessed I had a Barclay card and rattled on, probably trying to get some personal info out of me. I’ve blocked the number now.

That was barclaycard for sure, I rang their fraud dept and they confirmed it. Had a chat with a really kind lady who was super patient. She was actually trying to get me to consider a business credit card since I’m with barclays.

I received a call where the person on the line inquired if I was ...... and correctly stated my name. Upon confirming, they abruptly ended the call. It was definitely an actual human rather than some automated message.

She claimed to be from Barclays, saying they wanted to offer me a credit card for my small business. I wasn’t convinced though, she fumbled her words a bit at the start. When I checked the number against the official Barclays business card contact, it was different. I’m super cautious now because I got caught out by a call like this before. I even rang the police while still on the line. They didn’t manage to scam me, but then called back and threatened my husband. These scams are seriously sneaky and quite frightening.

Someone rang me up saying they were from Barclaycard and even knew my first name, claiming my account was showing up as a potential small business on their system. I ended the call and got in touch with Barclays myself, who told me it wasn’t them at all! BE VERY CAREFUL AND DON’T GIVE THEM ANY DETAILS.

This is definitely a scam, I have no idea how they got all my exact info and personal data after I opened an account. Seems like someone from Barclays must be leaking this info. The people on the call knew all my details and then sent me a link that looked like it came from Barclays. Please don’t click on anything like that. I called Barclays myself and they told me they never call customers about cards. Totally a scam, 100%.

A man with a clear voice claimed to be calling from Barclays business about updating my account without any extra fees. I told him I was busy and would get in touch with Barclays myself if he sent me the details by email. I never got any email so this was definitely a scam!

Got a call from a fake number claiming to be from we bank 👎 Their English was really poor and they said they couldn’t check my card balance 😏 seemed super sketchy. They said good evening even though it was daytime! I blocked the number straight away 😃 If the bank needs to reach me, they can just send a text, letter or email 😊 I’m not about to talk to someone pretending to be from the bank. Too risky giving out personal info to strangers.👌
