I received a phone call from a female who said she was representing the Department for Work and Pensions. She seemed to have detailed knowledge regarding my pension payments. According to her, the DWP was demanding a repayment of £100 and insisted that it would be deducted from my Guaranteed Pension Credit. Frankly, I have my doubts and suspect it’s a scam.

I think this might be the DWP but the number doesn’t show any specific area. I’ve been stuck waiting for weeks trying to sort out some problems they caused way back in March 2022, and even some from before that. When they called, they asked when would be a good time to ring back. I got put on hold for a bit, then got a message saying they’d try again later. So I messaged back saying the sooner the better.

I got a call that sounded like it was from the local Job Centre or DWP, saying I needed to start my work search interviews again soon, but this time they’ll be over the phone. They told me my first one’s on a Saturday, maybe the 22nd? Usually, whenever the DWP or Job Centre ring me, it just shows up as “private number,” so this was the first time I actually saw an actual phone number for one of their calls. Bit odd really!

I got a call from a woman saying she was from the DWP. She seemed to know loads about my yearly pension but told me I hadn't told them about it. I told her the DWP must be aware since they found me after I moved! Then she said the DWP wanted me to pay back about £100 by taking it from my guaranteed pension credit. She had all the details and promised to send me a letter with the calculation today. When I asked where she was calling from since her accent didn’t sound British, she just snapped, “So what?” and hung up on me.
