I got an email supposedly from "Utility Warehouse" asking me for a current reading from my solar panels. Thing is, I'm not even a customer of Utility Warehouse, so it felt a bit dodgy to me. Didn't bother calling the number they provided, just ended up deleting the message straight away.

So this company called one of my customers saying they were with British Gas, which they definitely weren’t. They told her they needed to swap her meter and said she already had an appointment set up with them, even though she hadn’t arranged anything. I called the customer myself to sort the meter switch and she told me she never had a booking with us. Then she got a bit suspicious and contacted GS Security to find out what was going on. They even attempted to reach a British Gas lawyer to clarify things. Honestly, steer clear of these lot, they’re dodgy.

Received a call from this number, but they didn’t leave a message.

Pretty much the same as the last one I saw. Got a call from an Energy Supplier about someone coming round to check our gas and electric meters, but they said they had no clue about any scheduled visits. The card they left didn’t have anywhere for me to write down the readings, so it looked like they expected to come back later to get them. There was a phone number on the card, but it was all scribbled out - didn’t bother to ring it obviously.

Got a card from this firm saying they wanted to read my gas and electric meters, which struck me as strange since they’d just been read not long ago. The card mentioned they were working ‘for my energy supplier’, so I looked them up. Turns out, the name looks like it’s linked to gas, but really it’s G4S Cash Solutions - a company known for cash collection and other stuff. They claim to gather data for other energy companies too. Felt a bit fishy to me. My tip: if you get one of these cards, double-check with your actual energy provider and don’t bother ringing the number on the card.
