I chatted to someone who claimed it was some technical glitch and they asked for my bank details. Since it was meant to be about checking a payment to make sure it wasn’t a fraud, it felt odd that a completely different bank's name popped up on my screen. I decided to hang up. No clearer on what's going on, so I reckon a visit to my local branch is the best move now!

If you phone your bank to confirm if the call is legit (like the 2 comments below mention), the customer service folks answering will be able to tell if the bank was actually trying to reach you and will put you through to the right team or sort things out. Keep in mind, they might not know every single number the bank uses. Just because the call centre says its a scam doesn’t always mean that specific number is dodgy. Spoofing real business numbers is a massive issue for companies and their clients these days.

This number is legit. When I was about to make a bank transfer, a warning appeared telling me to ring this number as the transaction seemed dodgy.
