Instead, it came up with a site claiming to be from ‘Windows’, complete with a voice message warning me that if I logged off or switched the laptop off, some data would be compromised due to a supposed 'Windows' firewall breach. The voice, a lady speaking English, kept calling the number 0800 011 9721 a ‘toll free’ helpline. This struck me as odd, so I didn’t call them. I went straight to 'Norton' since I have their 360 security plan. They removed what they called a ‘malicious pop-up’ and ran a full scan of my system. - caller: Windows??
