I told them I'd call the number on my card using another phone. Then they just hung up. Rang Virgin myself and they told me it was a scam and that my account was totally fine.

I don’t really get why folks are saying this number’s dodgy. It’s a legit Virgin Money number. They called me about some suspicious charges on my credit card. The same number’s actually on the back of my card for lost or stolen card issues.

They claimed to be Barclays but it’s definitely a scam. They clone numbers (like Virgin Money here) but it’s not the real company ringing you. This is all a con. They’ll tell you to transfer your money to a “safer” account coz yours has supposedly been hacked. Banks like Barclays or Virgin Media don’t ring up asking for your details like that. You might’ve got a text a few weeks back about a parcel that needs re-delivery - that’s when the fraud started.

Virgin Money was ringing me and it was genuine. There was a mistake on a purchase from a shop and they phoned to confirm it, even gave me the exact sum. They’d put a hold on my card to be safe since it was a big payment. My app got locked as well and the guy asked about the amount but I couldn’t open the app at first. Then he said he lifted the app block so I could see for myself, and sure enough I could log in again. Scammers wouldn’t be able to do that with the Virgin App.

Looks like a scam related to credit cards. They claim to be from your card provider, claiming there’s been suspicious activity and try to get your info. Just hang up and call your actual bank straight away to freeze your card and get a replacement sorted.

it was the virgin mastercard people calling. I was a bit suspicious and told them I’d call back later. seemed like a legit call about me switching to a different mobile number. I then phoned the number on the back of my card to double check.

Got a text saying my credit limit got cut down because of Covid rules. The message said if I wanted to get my old limit back, I should call the number in the text. The number looked like it was from Virgin’s site - BUT don’t ring it straight from the message if you wanna actually talk to Virgin, cos it just sends you to scammers.
