08000096461 Summary (Read all comments)

Phone number ☎️ 08000096461 👆 is reported as a persistent and aggressive scam caller targeting individuals with false claims of outstanding PPI refunds. Callers typically insist on personal details such as date of birth and bank information, often threatening or using foul language when challenged. They promise large cheque payouts but require upfront payments, commonly requesting £100 in PAYSAFE vouchers as a "fee" before delivery. Attempts to verify the legitimacy reveal inconsistent stories, calls from false representatives, and forged solicitor identities. Genuine PPI repayments do not involve unsolicited calls, in-person cheque deliveries, or requests for vouchers. Users are strongly advised not to engage, to block the number immediately, and to report the scam to relevant authorities to prevent further victimisation.

This was just another one of those dodgy PPI scams. Don't trust them!

Today, this number rang me up. Since I've nearly fallen for scams a couple of times during lockdown, I usually avoid picking up from unknown callers. After that, I looked up the number here and I'm really relieved I did. Definitely not answering if they call again. Cheers to everyone for the heads-up!

Today this number rang me, and since I nearly got scammed twice over the last couple of years, I don’t usually pick up calls from unknown numbers. Afterwards, I looked it up here and was really relieved. Definitely won’t be picking up again. Cheers to everyone for sharing info!

This number 0800 009 6461 called me saying my previously turned down PPi claim was now accepted and that i'd be getting a cheque for £4600. They asked if i'd be around tomorrow to receive it but i told them i would be out. The bloke suddenly got a bit cheeky, so i just ended the call.

I just received a rather peculiar call asking when I'd be back home to accept my cheque. I mentioned that I have a post box, so it's quite irrelevant. It struck me as rather strange. They only seem to know my address and date of birth, so I'm not overly concerned.

I politely said I wasn’t interested, then they just started swearing at me, telling me to F##k OFF. This really isn’t right, something has to be done about these people and looked into properly.

Just got a call from this number saying I was owed a PPI payout from 2017 worth around £7000. At first I thought it might be legit since I vaguely remember checking into PPI claims a while back, but when they asked for my DOB, marital status and a bunch of other stuff I got suspicious and ended the call. They even said some solicitor would turn up at my house tomorrow with a cheque and paperwork - total rubbish! Proper scam if you ask me 🤬🤬

I politely expressed my disinterest, thanking him for his time, and he swiftly responded with a rather foul-mouthed insult. This behaviour is unacceptable and surely warrants some investigation.

Received a call insisting I filed a PPI claim back in 2016. The thing is, I've never submitted a claim at all. They mentioned having over £3000 to refund me and asked whether I preferred cash or a cheque. I simply told them I wasn’t interested.

Like many others have mentioned, I’ve also got an outstanding PPI claim, which prompted me to seek a £100 card saver voucher. They buzzed my phone six times, just to confirm whether I’d received the card. So, I decided to throw them a curveball with a made-up name, address, and date of birth... and then they wanted the voucher number to ‘validate’ the card. I can’t help but enjoy having a bit of fun with these crooks!

Got a call from 08000096461 saying I was owed some PPI money and wanted my address. Figured it was dodgy and when I handed the phone to my bloke, they just cut off. I've already received a PPI payout before, and this just isn’t how legit companies reach out. Definitely a scam.

Seeing all these comments about this number being linked to scams really gets to me. It’s awful how some people just choose to scam others instead of trying to make an honest living. Most of us are just trying our best, working hard for our money. Honestly, these scammers must have no conscience at all!

Got a call from 08000096461, some bloke with an Asian accent telling me my PPI payout had jumped by £1125 overnight. Complete rubbish. He was going on about buying paysafe cards again, just like yesterday. When I told him he was trying to scam me, he started swearing like mad. No worries, I can be a bit cheeky myself. Seriously, don’t pick up on these numbers, they’re con artists. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Total scam.

I got a call from some bloke who sounded really pushy and rude, kept swearing at me. He mentioned being some kind of agent, but honestly, I reckon he was part of a scam. The guy sounded Asian and got proper angry when I told him he was just another con artist. To be fair, I think he might have had some mental issues too. Definitely another dodgy ppi caller. I just had a missed call from this number. After perusing the comments, I felt compelled to chime in. The DWP, especially concerning PIP, consistently reaches out from the same number. I've saved it on my phone and when they rang me regarding a different issue, their name popped up. While they might occasionally use different numbers, rest assured, they won’t ring you about payments or back payments-that sort of correspondence comes via a traditional letter, all ink on crisp cream paper, which I recently received. The actual payment is then deposited directly into your bank account, with benefits like PIP appearing in due course. They certainly don’t solicit ID or bank details over the phone. These calls are likely from scammers! Given the tough times we’re all facing, it’s crucial not to fall for these schemes. Remember, if something sounds too good to be true, it usually is. Keep yourselves safe, show kindness to others, but don’t let yourselves be taken for a ride! These unscrupulous individuals are out there hoping to exploit those who genuinely rely on PIP.

I received a similar call earlier today and the amounts they mentioned matched what others have reported. They claimed I was owed £5000 but would only be receiving £4255 after a £708 commission deduction. They inquired about my date of birth and which bank I used, to which I fabricated a bank's name. They've promised to ring me back tomorrow at 2pm to discuss further with an advisor, and insisted that a cheque would be sent via courier. Just a heads-up, as it all seemed quite believable!

I received a rather peculiar phone call yesterday (09.05.2022) from a chap named EDWARD, who informed me of a supposed £3,000 that's been gathering since 2016. Naturally, I asked if I could ring him back at another time. Just a word of caution for everyone out there, especially since I’ve been residing in the UK since 2020. Stay vigilant!

Received a call today on the 6th of May 2022 at half past two in the afternoon. The chap on the line had a rather dodgy accent and informed me that my claim had been approved. When I mentioned that I hadn’t made any claims at all, he insisted there was some kind of mix-up. His response? He rather rudely advised me to “Foxtrot Oscar”! What a cheek!

Similar to many others, I was approached by a chap claiming I had a PPI refund of roughly £5000, minus their cut, of course. What struck me as quite odd was their inability to specify the entity responsible for the claim, and to top it off, they couldn’t even get my name right. So, I firmly told him to clear off. He was rather slick and had a ready answer for everything, making him all the more convincing. Honestly, I’d deem these lot as rather perilous-far more polished than your run-of-the-mill telemarketer.

I got a call from someone saying they were from a PPI claims company, telling me my cheque needed to be handed to me in person - weird thing is, they already had my address. When I began asking questions, the caller got rude and aggressive, insisting I’d applied for PPI. I told him the claim was already closed, and he didn’t seem happy with that, even suggesting I didn’t want the money. I just ended the call. He tried ringing back, but I’d already checked the number and found this report. This kind of thing really needs to be cracked down on, hope they get stopped soon.

I got a call from someone saying they were from PPI claims, telling me a cheque needed to be handed over in person at my house - somehow they already had my address. When I began asking a few questions, the bloke got a bit snappy, insisting I had applied for PPI. I told him the claim was closed, which didn’t seem to go down well. He then hinted I must not want the money. I ended the call straight away. He tried ringing back, but I’d already looked up the number and found this report. This sort of thing needs to be stopped - hope they catch these dodgy callers soon.

Hey, just a heads up - this number is a total scam. They pretend to be from some financial services office and say you’ve got around £4000 waiting for you in tax or PPI refunds. But then they want you to send £100 in cash to a courier. Don’t fall for it, it’s all fake. Best thing to do is just end the call straight away. Really hope these scammers get nabbed soon. Cheers, David.

Today, I received a rather dubious call claiming that I'm entitled to a sum of £5,000. They mentioned that after a hefty £708 cut for their services, I'd supposedly receive £4,255. Naturally, I was suspicious when they asked for my date of birth and which bank I used, so I fed them false information about my bank details. It’s clearly a scam! They’ve scheduled a follow-up call for Monday at 4 PM with some so-called advisor to discuss further, promising that a cheque would be sent over by courier. Quite the tale, isn’t it?

I received a call claiming I was due a £5000 refund for PPI. They said I just needed to verify a few details. However, as soon as they requested my date of birth, I decided enough was enough and ended the call. There's absolutely no way I'm sharing personal information over the phone. If they're truly going to pay me what I’m owed, they can simply send a cheque my way. It's undoubtedly a scam, particularly since no one seems to have seen any money from it.

Received yet another call today, informing me that the solicitor would get in touch later this evening and that I simply needed to show some identification. Naturally, I inquired about the necessity of that, and they explained that the deadline for PPI claims had lapsed. However, since I was still in their records, they insisted that the cheque must be delivered in person. I did my due diligence and asked them if they could kindly email me all the pertinent details. And would you believe it? No email has come through! What a shocker!

I recently came across an article online that mentioned a solicitor by the name of Jennifer Browne, who apparently has no connection whatsoever to those individuals who go door-to-door inquiring about identification for PPI claims. Moreover, the Solicitors Regulation Authority has flagged this practice as a scam. Therefore, if someone knocks on your door claiming to represent this service, it's vital to thoroughly scrutinise their ID badge to ensure it’s genuine. Stay vigilant, folks!

Just had a rather curious phone call informing me that I’m due a whopping £3700 from a PPI claim. They wanted to know if I preferred it sent as a cheque or directly into my bank. Naturally, I opted for the cheque. However, they mentioned they'd need to give me a bell again tomorrow since they apparently must confirm the postage of the cheque. To be honest, I wouldn't count on it arriving any time soon!

I just received a rather unusual phone call. The caller informed me that I was due a cheque worth £3,470 for a PPI claim, and that it would be delivered straight to my home by a government official. She introduced herself as Lisa Williams and provided an ID number: 731682. However, to get this cheque, I would need to provide a photo ID-either my driving licence or passport-along with a recent utility bill to confirm my address, and intriguingly, a PAY SAFE VOUCHER for £100. She assured me that she would hand me back the £100 in cash, making it seem like it wouldn't cost me anything at all. Now, call me a skeptic, but it feels a bit too good to be true... Last time I received any PPI refund, it simply showed up in the post without all this fuss.

I received a rather familiar call myself! They claimed they were sending me £4000 for a PPI reimbursement. The caller had the audacity to inquire about my current bank and my previous banking institution too. I got a call from someone claiming to be from Bridgewater Development. Not sure what they actually do since they have a website, but this bloke with an English accent started talking about me getting £3500. Then he asked if I’d want the money by cheque or online transfer. When I told him I was going to call the police and asked for his details to see what they’d come up with, he just hung up straight away.
