Phone number ☎️ 08000096461 👆 is reported as a persistent and aggressive scam caller targeting individuals with false claims of outstanding PPI refunds. Callers typically insist on personal details such as date of birth and bank information, often threatening or using foul language when challenged. They promise large cheque payouts but require upfront payments, commonly requesting £100 in PAYSAFE vouchers as a "fee" before delivery. Attempts to verify the legitimacy reveal inconsistent stories, calls from false representatives, and forged solicitor identities. Genuine PPI repayments do not involve unsolicited calls, in-person cheque deliveries, or requests for vouchers. Users are strongly advised not to engage, to block the number immediately, and to report the scam to relevant authorities to prevent further victimisation.

This was just another one of those dodgy PPI scams. Don't trust them!

Today, this number rang me up. Since I've nearly fallen for scams a couple of times during lockdown, I usually avoid picking up from unknown callers. After that, I looked up the number here and I'm really relieved I did. Definitely not answering if they call again. Cheers to everyone for the heads-up!

Today this number rang me, and since I nearly got scammed twice over the last couple of years, I don’t usually pick up calls from unknown numbers. Afterwards, I looked it up here and was really relieved. Definitely won’t be picking up again. Cheers to everyone for sharing info!

This number 0800 009 6461 called me saying my previously turned down PPi claim was now accepted and that i'd be getting a cheque for £4600. They asked if i'd be around tomorrow to receive it but i told them i would be out. The bloke suddenly got a bit cheeky, so i just ended the call.

Got a call like this just now, they wanted to know when I’d be in to collect a cheque. I told them I’ve got a parcel locker so timing’s not an issue. Bit strange really. They only had my DOB and address, so I’m not overly concerned about it.

I politely said I wasn’t interested, then they just started swearing at me, telling me to F##k OFF. This really isn’t right, something has to be done about these people and looked into properly.

Just got a call from this number saying I was owed a PPI payout from 2017 worth around £7000. At first I thought it might be legit since I vaguely remember checking into PPI claims a while back, but when they asked for my DOB, marital status and a bunch of other stuff I got suspicious and ended the call. They even said some solicitor would turn up at my house tomorrow with a cheque and paperwork - total rubbish! Proper scam if you ask me 🤬🤬

So I said I wasn’t interested, politely enough, and he just told me to f*** off. Honestly, this kind of behaviour should be looked into and put a stop to.

Some bloke rang up saying I’d made a PPI claim back in 2016. I never sorted any claim, but he reckoned I was owed more than £3000. Then asked if I wanted the cash or a cheque. I just told him I wasn’t interested and hung up.

Like many here, I've got an unpaid PPI claim and was after one of those £100 Card Save vouchers. They rang me half a dozen times just to make sure I had the voucher in hand. I gave them a made-up name, a fake address and dodgy birthday. Then they wanted the £100 voucher code to “confirm” it was legit. Honestly, messing about with these con artists is oddly satisfying.

Got a call from 08000096461 saying I was owed some PPI money and wanted my address. Figured it was dodgy and when I handed the phone to my bloke, they just cut off. I've already received a PPI payout before, and this just isn’t how legit companies reach out. Definitely a scam.

Seeing all these comments about this number being linked to scams really gets to me. It’s awful how some people just choose to scam others instead of trying to make an honest living. Most of us are just trying our best, working hard for our money. Honestly, these scammers must have no conscience at all!

Got a call from 08000096461, some bloke with an Asian accent telling me my PPI payout had jumped by £1125 overnight. Complete rubbish. He was going on about buying paysafe cards again, just like yesterday. When I told him he was trying to scam me, he started swearing like mad. No worries, I can be a bit cheeky myself. Seriously, don’t pick up on these numbers, they’re con artists. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Total scam.

Got a call from a guy named Andrea, sounded Asian, about some PPI refund on 08000096461. He kept telling me I had to buy a £100 PAYSAFE Voucher from a shop before they could send my cheque. Definitely a scam, don’t fall for it. Just hang up straight away if you get the call. Hope this warning’s useful!

I got a call from some bloke who sounded really pushy and rude, kept swearing at me. He mentioned being some kind of agent, but honestly, I reckon he was part of a scam. The guy sounded Asian and got proper angry when I told him he was just another con artist. To be fair, I think he might have had some mental issues too. Definitely another dodgy ppi caller. Honestly, block and report them straight away - these lot are not to be trusted, they’re dangerous!

Just missed a call from this number earlier. From what I’ve gathered in the comments, the DWP, especially about PIP, usually rings you from the exact same number each time. I saved theirs in my contacts, and even when they rang about something else, it showed up under the same name. They might use different numbers sometimes, but they never phone to tell you about any payments or back payments. Instead, they send proper letters by post, printed on cream paper, which I’ve recently received myself. Any payments arrive directly into your bank account for your PIP or other benefits. They would never ask for your ID or bank details on the phone. These calls are definitely from scammers! Times are tough now, so please don’t fall for it. If it sounds too good to be true, it almost certainly is. Stay safe, be nice, but don’t get taken advantage of! These lowlifes are just trying to target genuine PIP claimants and scam whatever they can.

Just got a call like this today, they mentioned pretty much the same amounts others have said here. Was told I’m owed about £5000 but they’d only give me £4255 after taking a £708 fee. They asked for my DOB and bank details, so I gave them a fake bank name. They said they’d ring me back tomorrow at 2pm to talk to some advisor to sort out the rest, and that a cheque would be sent by courier. Stay cautious, it sounds convincing but it’s definitely dodgy.

I got a call from this number yesterday (09/05/2022) and the guy on the other end said something about owing £3,000. He said his name was Edward and mentioned that the debt had been building up since 2016. I asked him if I could call back later. Just a heads up, I've been living in the UK since 2020, so watch out for stuff like this!

This afternoon, around 2:30pm on 6/5/22, I got a call from someone speaking English but with such a bad accent. They kept saying my claim had been approved, which was odd since I never made any claim. When I told them this, they just snapped back with "Foxtrot Oscar!" Can you believe it?

Similar to a few others, this person rang me up saying I was owed roughly £5000 in PPI but they’d take a cut. They couldn’t say who the claim was with and even got my name wrong, so I just told them to jog on. They were pretty convincing and quick with replies, honestly pretty slick - I’d say they’re just as risky as your usual scam calls, if not worse.

I got a call from someone saying they were from a PPI claims company, telling me my cheque needed to be handed to me in person - weird thing is, they already had my address. When I began asking questions, the caller got rude and aggressive, insisting I’d applied for PPI. I told him the claim was already closed, and he didn’t seem happy with that, even suggesting I didn’t want the money. I just ended the call. He tried ringing back, but I’d already checked the number and found this report. This kind of thing really needs to be cracked down on, hope they get stopped soon.

I got a call from someone saying they were from PPI claims, telling me a cheque needed to be handed over in person at my house - somehow they already had my address. When I began asking a few questions, the bloke got a bit snappy, insisting I had applied for PPI. I told him the claim was closed, which didn’t seem to go down well. He then hinted I must not want the money. I ended the call straight away. He tried ringing back, but I’d already looked up the number and found this report. This sort of thing needs to be stopped - hope they catch these dodgy callers soon.

Hey, just a heads up - this number is a total scam. They pretend to be from some financial services office and say you’ve got around £4000 waiting for you in tax or PPI refunds. But then they want you to send £100 in cash to a courier. Don’t fall for it, it’s all fake. Best thing to do is just end the call straight away. Really hope these scammers get nabbed soon. Cheers, David.

Today I got this call telling me I’m supposed to receive £5000, but they said I’d only get £4255 since there’s a £708 fee taken out. They asked for my DOB and bank details, but I told them a fake bank just to be safe. Definitely sounded like a scam. They’re ringing me again Monday at 4pm to chat with some “advisor” to sort out more details, and said a cheque would be sent by courier after that. Feels dodgy to me.

Just got a call from someone who had my birth date but couldn’t even guess my age. Honestly, a pretty rubbish try at stealing my identity.

This caller said I was due £5000 in PPI compensation, all they wanted was to verify a few things. The moment they started asking for my birth date, I ended the call. There's no way I'm handing over personal info on the phone. If there's really money owed, just send me a cheque in the post. Feels like a total scam to me since nobody's actually got anything yet.

Got another call today saying a solicitor would ring me later this evening and all I needed to do was show some ID. I asked what it was about and they said it was because the deadline for PPI claims was over, but since I was still listed, the cheque needed to be handed over in person and they'd already verified it. I politely asked if they could send me the info by email instead. Of course, no email has turned up! Not shocked at all!

I came across something online saying that Jennifer Browne, a solicitor whose name I was given, isn’t involved in going door to door asking for ID for PPI claims. Turns out the Solicitors Regulation Authority flagged it as a scam. So, if anyone shows up at your place claiming to be her, make sure you ask to see their ID badge and verify if they’re genuine or not.

I got a ring saying I’m due a cheque for £3470 from some PPI claim, supposed to be dropped off at my place by a government solicitor. The lady said her name was Lisa Williams and gave me some ID number, 731682. She asked me to send over a photo ID like my passport or driving licence, a utility bill for proof of address, and also a PAY SAFE VOUCHER for £100. Apparently, she’d give me that £100 back in cash, so it wouldn’t cost me anything. I don’t know, maybe I’m just suspicious, but it all sounded a bit dodgy to me... Last time I got PPI money, it just arrived in the post no hassle.

I've just had a call like that too. They said they were sending me £4000 for a PPI claim. They wanted to know which bank I'm with now and also the one I used before this. I got a call from someone claiming to be from Bridgewater Development. When I told him I was going to call the police and asked for his details to see what they’d come up with, he just hung up straight away.
