They mentioned Emma had hurt her wrist and fibula and needed a £20 top-up voucher. After I sent it, they said £15 was deducted for extra charges and asked if I could send another £20, promising they’d send it this afternoon.

Got a call from someone named Emma saying she’s in hospital but the signal’s rubbish. She told me she fell this morning and wants me to call or message her because she needs a favour. The number was 07517 361226. Neither of the Emmas I know are in trouble - one works with me at a charity nearby, and the other’s my cousin.

Got a call from 07542 987524 tonight, with a text saying 'hi it’s sarah. ive had a small accident and im stuck in hospital with a broken fibula. can u help me out?' I have a family friend named Sarah but felt something was fishy. I replied saying I’ll try but I live in London now. Then the number asked for a phone voucher by tomorrow. This is definitely a scam! Don’t trust any msgs from this number!

Just got a message saying Sarah’s in hospital with a broken wrist and fibula, asking me for a favour and to reply. Surely a scam, so I ignored it. It’s creepy how they must have gotten our number!

Absolutely, just received a call from Sarah! Bless her, she's dealing with a fractured tibia and wrist. Let's hope it doesn't lead to any serious complications. Fingers crossed she stays on the mend! Ha ha!

I've gone ahead and informed Orange about the situation, fingers crossed that her leg heals up nicely and that she manages to get her head straight. It’s high time she stops taking advantage of good, decent folks who toil away and genuinely show kindness. I nearly topped up her phone with credit, but thankfully I did some digging online beforehand. Let this serve as a cautionary tale for everyone out there!

I've just experienced something quite similar today - "Sarah" reached out, claiming she needed a phone voucher while at some 'medical facility'. Could I possibly send over some cash? It's utterly ludicrous! The audacity of these scammers is truly appalling...
