BEWARE, THIS NUMBER +44 07942 141 998 IS A TOTAL SCAM! I got a text from them saying, "HMRC: According to our records, you have a tax rebate waiting 02/04/21. To claim, visit: gov.uk-taxrebates.org". That’s definitely not the real HMRC site! When I tried to open it, my antivirus popped up warning me that the website was suspicious. It said something like, "Dangerous site ahead. This site, gov.uk-taxrebates.org, might try to trick you into downloading harmful software or stealing personal info such as passwords, phone numbers or credit card details." Stay clear and don’t click on anything!

Beware of this number 07942141998, it’s definitely dodgy. I got a text with a link claiming to be about a parcel, so I clicked it and ended up on a site asking for my name and address - which felt off immediately, so I didn’t enter anything. Just to double check, I jotted down the tracking number it showed and then went over to the official Royal Mail website. When I put the same tracking number into the real site, it said it couldn’t find it at all. Pretty obvious scam to me. I’ll admit, they’re pretty slick with their tricks.

I got a call from a number pretending to be Royal Mail but it was dodgy for sure, because real ones always say Royal Mail upfront, not just the number first. Total scam!

If you want to report these dodgy texts, just forward them to 7726 - that’s the number for reporting spam. They’ll reply asking for the number that sent it, so send that as well. Doing this a few times should make them stop bothering people using that number. In my case, it turned out to be a Royal Mail scam!
