this number rang me recently and i decided to pop into my local branch to check it out. they told me it’s actually a senior personal banker from natwest. they mentioned if i’m ever unsure, i can just ring natwest on the number on the back of my card and they'll verify if the caller is legit. apparently, since the start of the pandemic, staff have been given mobile phones to work from home and do financial reviews via zoom. i think it’s pretty handy since you can clearly see who you’re talking to.

I got a call about arranging a financial review and they had details like my old banking info from when I opened a new account last year. They even sent what looked like an official NatWest text to confirm a Zoom meeting! When I rang NatWest's fraud department to double-check, they said everything was legit and some staff do use mobile phones. Honestly, I'd feel better if NatWest stuck to proper landlines, but I guess that’s how things are now.
