The perpetrator posed as the victim's son, claiming he'd got a new phone number and, to add to the ruse, insisted that his online banking had been frozen. Once they managed to gain a bit of trust, the fraudster then requested a hefty sum of £2900 to sort things out, citing the locked account as the reason. Thankfully, the victim remained cautious and didn’t part with any cash, thus exposing the deceitful scheme.
