Got a call supposedly from HMRC saying I’d not paid enough tax and threatening jail time if I didn’t cough up. Then he started wanting my personal info. Told him that’s not possible as my taxes come straight out of my pay by my employer. Asked him if he could actually prove he was with HMRC, and he just snapped back with a load of abuse before hanging up. Feels like a total scam to me. If he really worked for HMRC, that behaviour would be completely unacceptable.
