Loads of people reckon the person calling from this number is from Halifax/BOS or Lloyds asking about some charge on their account. I’m not so sure though. I don’t have accounts with any of those banks, so for me, the 4 calls I got in just 2 days seems like a proper PHISHING SCAM.

They said they were setting up a gas meter installation. The person who answered spoke English with an Indian subcontinent accent, sounded quite professional though. Just a heads up, be careful.

Got a message sayin my order payment was declined, which was actually right coz I was at the shop it mentioned when the text came through. Turns out it was just ‘cause I was in a different town, not my usual place. The text told me to wait 10 minutes and then try buying again, then asked if it was me with a simple YES or NO reply. So yeah, I’m pretty sure it was legit from my bank.

Claiming to be from Halifax. I got a fake message saying to watch out for a text about my bank card. Then this showed up. Halifax says your Halifax Debit card ending **** was used on 24-12-2021 12:00:39 at lonvim.com for £1.66. The payment was refused. If you did this reply YES, if not reply NO. Don’t bother calling them. They say replying to the text is the fastest way to fix your account.

Someone rang claiming to be from Lloyds bank 'cause my card got declined on Deliveroo. Then I got a text from some random mobile number telling me to reply YES or NO to update my account. Totally a scam!

I came across this site and read loads of bad reviews, so I assumed it was dodgy and even reported it. But today, I noticed my phone bill was stopped due to suspected fraud, so I rang my bank (BoS, part of Lloyds) and they told me the texts from 07860092482 were legit, sent by their fraud team warning about unusual activity. Knowing this, I’d say it’s not a scam but a genuine fraud prevention measure. I did mention to the guy that their wording is really off - telling you to "reply YES or NO" and also saying "no need to contact us" just sounds way too suspicious.

Got a call from Halifax about a £1 charge at Jaguar to make sure it was legit. Turns out it wasn’t, so they froze my card and sent a replacement. Later I messaged Halifax on Twitter to double check the number was genuine, and they said it definitely was.

I had a similar experience. Received a message claiming my card had been utilised and urging me to respond with either a yes or no. It was from Lloyds Bank. Upon reviewing my account, I noticed a withdrawal of £60.85. Quite concerning!

Got a message from this number saying I’d get a follow up text in 10 mins from Bank of Scotland about a £389.99 purchase to some electricity firm. Said it got declined and I needed to call back quick. It’s not the first time I’ve had these sorts of texts or even calls from them. I did order a cheap little whistle for myself and I reckon I’ll use it to drown out these annoying pests.

Got a call from someone saying they were from Halifax fraud team. It came from a different number and had an automated voice saying a card payment was declined. They asked if I had approved it - obviously I said no. I didn’t share any info, but they already had my name and the last four digits of my card, which seemed really dodgy. I ended up reporting it to Halifax and got a fake text with a contact number (7726) in the UK.
