Be careful with this call, they're pretending to be from the National Grid saying they need to check your electric meter and stuff... it seems really dodgy. Why would a legit company text about these things anyway? Totally unprofessional and makes no sense. Watch out for this one, feels like a scam for sure! Proper annoying and sketchy behaviour.

So I got a message from +44 7860 027778 warning about a power outage, but nothing actually happened. I decided to call up the National Grid, and they told me the alert was for my previous address. Apparently, loads of folks forget to update their address details with them, which is why these alerts keep coming through but the power stays on. I’ve now sorted my address out with them. If anyone else is getting the same sort of message, try calling 0800 096 3080. The number in the text is legit and belongs to the National Grid.

Got a message saying it was from National Grid about some inspectors going round checking the ‘cut out’ and that they’d take a pic for their files. Didn’t say when they’d arrive or any exact date. They claimed they’d be in uniform with a badge on. Honestly sounds a bit dodgy if you ask me.

Just like others have mentioned before, I received a message from this number stating that a scheduled power cut had been called off. The thing is, I had no clue a power outage was ever on the cards! There were no links or anything to check out, so it's tricky to determine what type of con this might be-seems more like a pestering spam message to me.

I received a message from this number claiming to be from the National Grid, saying my power supply wouldn’t be cut off as initially mentioned, and that any necessary work would happen later. However, I haven't received any prior notice from them about any planned interruption to my service. The text originated from +447860027778. When I tried calling this number, it was unavailable. I've now taken the step of blocking and erasing it from my contacts.

The National Grid actually uses this number, at least that’s what it is for us when they need to tell us about upcoming power cuts. Just before, we saw the electricity inspection chopper flying round and you can find the whole thing happening on the power company’s app too.

Despite blocking the sender multiple times using my iPhone's SMS blocking feature, the messages keep coming. It's been happening for weeks straight. I haven't clicked any links or responded with STOP because I worry it might just make them send even more.

Somebody rang me saying they were from National Grid or SLJ, telling me there was a power outage and they'd fixed it in my area. They even said sorry if I'm still without power. Problem is, there hasn't been any blackout here and I never told them I was off the grid. Didn't hang about, blocked them straight away.

Took a while to get through, but eventually someone confirmed the message was legit and actually from NG.

Some bloke rang me claiming to be from Western Power Distribution's Priory office. I wasn't sure so I looked up their number on their official website and called them back. They confirmed that the number 0800 032 8302, which I got in a text, really does belong to Western Power Distribution. So, it seems legit after all.
