Looks like it’s from Santander’s fraud squad doing a security check. I applied for a new credit card and since we’ve had issues with hacking before, they sent a message asking for a reply. Still, it’s wise to double check with your bank like I did just to make sure it’s legit and not a scam.

Looks like this is a legit Santander fraud alert number - they rang me about suspicious activity on my card. But just watch out, cos numbers can be faked easily these days. There’s a scam going round where they make it show up as a real bank number on your phone. Don’t share any info you don’t need to, and definitely don’t give out your login details, passwords or those one-time codes. If they ask for stuff like that, hang up and ring your bank directly using the number on your card or their official website instead.

This is a legit number from Santander. They use it to text you and confirm a payment you’ve just made from your account. If you’re unsure, give Santander a ring on 08009123123 - that’s their new number replacing 08459724724. When you pay for something on eBay with your Santander card instead of PayPal, Santander wants to verify that it’s really you making the purchase. I actually shut down my PayPal because eBay kept taking fees from my bank account through PayPal without asking me.

This number is a complete scam, pretending to be Santander's fraud team. Honestly, anyone leaving positive remarks about it being legit is either really naive or could be involved in the scam, trying to trick you into trusting them. The Fraud Team know about this con, which started in Africa, and they’re working with other countries to catch the crooks. Never respond to texts like this until you’ve double-checked with your bank using a separate phone or device. Be careful out there, don’t end up getting caught out.

this number has now been taken over by hackers. i got a message on tuesday 13 dec saying my account was secure, but in that time money was being taken. if you get a text like this, ring santander right away using the number on the back of your card, and use a landline cos the scammers could redirect the call without you noticing.

I can say for sure this isn’t Santander. It’s definitely a scam. i agree this is legit - its the number santander uses for texts about any dodgy activity on your account. dont think its the best method personally but its definetly real. i dont use my card much either but recently had to do a few payments quickly, so its reassuring they keep an eye out for anything weird. fair play to santander for that.

Honestly, I can vouch that this is legit. After making an online payment, I got a couple of texts telling me to reply with a 3-digit pin. Now, I’m always a bit wary, so I rang up customer support - there’s a number on the back of my card, so I knew it was Santander for real. They connected me to their security department who confirmed the messages were genuine. Fair play to them for doing these checks, but seriously, how are we meant to trust these texts nowadays? It’s a right laugh really!
