I just received a dodgy text claiming to be from HSBC, but I’ve never had an account with them. Seriously, don’t tap on that link! Best bet is to delete the message straight away and report the number whenever you can. Always check who’s messaging before clicking on anything sketchy.

Got a text around 1:19 pm on 2nd April 2020 saying something like this (though the link wasn’t shared): HSBC said a new payee named MR C JONES was added to my account via the HSBC banking app. They told me that if I didn’t do this, I should check out a certain website.

Got a text about a payment request to an HSBC account. I normally bank with HSBC for my business, but the link was dodgy - the domain didn’t even have HSBC in it. Definitely a phishing attempt, so don’t click it. I’ve already forwarded the message and phone number to the HSBC fraud department through our account manager.

Got a text today at 12:04 from HSBC sayin there was a new payee added to my account for some MR C Jones through their mobile app. Problem is, I don’t even have an HSBC account nor have I ever done online banking with them.
