I received a rather intriguing phone call earlier, where the caller attempted to persuade me regarding a supposed tax reimbursement linked to PPI. The conversation included claims about money owed to me by HMRC for a transaction back in 2017. Now, I can’t recall having any involvement with PPI at that time. In fact, prior to 2017, I was informed that as a retiree, I didn't need to fill out a tax return unless my situation changed… and it hasn’t. I eventually concluded the discussion by indicating to the rather convincing lady on the line to drop the matter. She then asked, “Shall I close the file?” to which I responded affirmatively.

I’ve been getting calls from a number almost the same as this one, it’s 07840 928876, and apparently it’s a scam. So I’m guessing this number is dodgy too. I usually don’t pick up unless I know the number anyway.
