Got a call from someone saying they were with Hotpoint. They wanted to talk to a family member who passed away over a year ago. It’s crazy how they manage to find your address so easily. Even with privacy laws in place, it seems like the government and others find it fine to share your info from the Electoral Roll.

Got a call from an Asian woman about some PPI claim. I asked her how she even got my info, and she just said it was from some database. I told her that since I hadn’t given any written consent, which I thought the new EU data protection rules require, she was basically breaking the law. Then she just hung up on me, which was a bit odd! I’ve now blocked the number and reported it to my phone provider, though who knows if it’ll help. Judging by all the different calls people are getting and sharing here, it seems like there’s a fresh wave of scammers around again.

There's this guy, sounds Indian, says he's with Hotpoint. Every day I get calls from a different 07 number, like some kinda new scam wave. It's defo fake, like these scammers have got tons of fake 07 numbers to keep ringing. Such a pain!

When I asked what the call was about, he said it was something to do with my washing machine - I told him I don’t even own one. Then he just fell silent and ended the call. How on earth did he get hold of my details?
