Got a call saying I had an appointment at a nearby hospital and was asked to respond with ‘attend’, ‘cancel’ or ‘change’. Problem is, my partner actually had the appointment on that day, not me. When I got to the clinic, they couldn’t find any record of my booking. It ended up wasting loads of the staff's time, which is a real shame given how stretched the NHS is these days!

I got a call saying I had an appointment at Cumberland Infirmary and was asked to respond with 'ATTEND', 'CANCEL', or 'CHANGE'. Coincidentally, my wife had an appointment there on the same day. When we arrived, the staff had no record of my booking whatsoever. This ended up wasting loads of the reception team's time, which is frustrating given how busy the NHS always is!

About twenty mins after I talked with the doctor's receptionist, I got a text saying I had an appointment but it didn't say which dept or anything. I rang the secretary today and they said no appointment showed up on their system. It’s awful how some really unwell people go after the vulnerable and sick like that.

This was a legit hospital call confirming my appointment. If folks are getting messages from hospitals they don’t recognise, chances are someone gave the wrong number by accident. In my experience at work, roughly one in five people leave incorrect mobile numbers!

I've received a similar call myself. It was supposedly from Luton and Dunstable Hospital, stating I had an appointment at 13:10. Upon doing a bit of digging, I found that the main number is indeed accurate; however, the mobile number from which the message was sent is a complete mystery to me. I’m not even close to Luton and have no scheduled appointments, so it’s clear they’ve got some erroneous information. If anyone else finds themselves in the same muddle, I'd recommend simply deleting it. Just a word of caution: think twice before dialling any mobile numbers, as it could be a scam raking in premiums!
