3 yearsComplete scam, pretending to be from a bank claiming I had PPI compensation of £2550 plus £1550 interest. When they asked for my bank’s name, I said “Paris Bank” (which isn’t real) and they had no clue. They gave me a reference and ID number, saying they never ask for bank or card info and that the money was in a digital wallet. Then they passed me to another guy with an Asian accent who asked for the ref and ID again. I gave wrong numbers on purpose and he got a bit confused, then asked for my phone number to verify. After that, he gave me different ref and ID numbers and said I wasn’t tech savvy. He wanted to help me access the wallet and asked me to put the phone on speaker (which felt odd). Next, he told me to download an app called AnyDesk from the Play Store so he could remotely control my phone and grab my bank info, passwords, and personal data.
