There was some noise in the background before a bloke's voice came on asking if he could speak to me. He then told me to speak up more, so I asked what for. After a short silence, the line went dead. Phoned my mum, who’s on a disability pension, but she couldn’t answer quick enough. I’m convinced it’s an HMRC scam, especially since she’s elderly. It’s disgusting how these idiots keep targeting vulnerable older people. Honestly, some folks are just rotten. She gets loads of scam calls even though she’s signed up with TPS. Just like the messages mentioned earlier, we got a call this morning from a bloke with a serious, deep voice claiming he was from HMRC. I quickly hung up the house phone and waited a few moments before using 1471 to find out who had called. While I was typing this up, another call came from 01598669525. Luckily, we've got a fancy call blocker that stops these types of calls - any flagged numbers won't get through again. It can block literally thousands of unwanted calls, which is a huge relief!

Had a ring earlier today from what turned out to be an HMRC scam. Lately I’ve been getting loads of calls, a mix of mobile-looking numbers and others beginning with 0055, 0060, 0161, 0047 or 01261. The calls come from all sorts, like BT, Vodafone and HMRC impersonators. No matter how many numbers I block, they always pop up on the line with some new one. Quite frustrating really!
