Got a message saying "Hey mum, I've had a problem today and my phone's bust, can you text me on this number ASAP. I'm on a mate's phone." Instantly felt off as our boy never calls me mum like that. I saw someone else replied and even rang the number leaving a voicemail, which got me thinking what this scam is really about. Strange behaviour, if you ask me.

Got this text and called straight away, worried something was up. Every time I rang, it just went to voicemail. Then I reached her husband, who told me she was home, working. The message said something like, "Hey Mum, had a bit of a thing today and my phone’s busted, please get back to me on 447719930158, it’s urgent x. I’m using a mate’s phone to text you."
