Heads up, don’t fall for it and just block the number straight away. This person calls often and sounds really convincing, but what really worries me is how they knew about some work done at my house over two decades ago. They claimed to be ringing on behalf of a government-supported organisation, trying to push insulation upgrades. I was daft enough to listen at first, but once I realised what was going on, I blocked the number. I’m curious if they’ll ring again using another phone number.

Got a call about wall insulation, supposed to have phoned them before and asked to ring again in April. When I asked for more info, the caller got really rude and started yelling. I just hung up straight away!

I received a call from someone who was rushing their words in a rather self-important manner, claiming to be a local "Energy Efficiency Officer". The moment I mentioned that I'm signed up with the Telephone Preference Service, the conversation abruptly ended and he hung up. Definitely sounds dodgy to me!

Watch out for this fraudster claiming to be from HMRC, attempting to coerce you with threats of legal repercussions if you don’t return their call on a different number without delay. It’s just a recorded message, and curiously, they refer to you as ‘you’ instead of using your actual name. I encountered a similar situation with a different number earlier in the year and promptly reported it to the authorities. The police clarified that HMRC never initiates contact regarding any issues via phone; they only communicate through official letters. Best to stay vigilant!

I’ve just had a dodgy call from someone impersonating HMRC, making all sorts of alarming threats about legal proceedings. It was an automated message urging me to ring a different number, which raised my suspicions. I’ve already flagged this to the authorities, and they confirmed that HMRC will always communicate via letter if there’s an issue - these dials are definitely scams. I've heard that if you ring them back, they try to extort money, claiming you owe tax and that you could face jail if you don’t cough up. Just a heads-up: this isn't coming from HMRC or the DWP! Stay vigilant, everyone!
