Looks like it was probably one of those boiler scams, but it just ended up going to voicemail!

They went quiet on me, probably realised I wasn’t the kinda confident tone they wanted. I reckon if they kept chatting, they’d have bitten off more than they could chew.

Get them to write all the info in big letters since my eyes aren’t great, or even better, arrange for someone to come round. Be cheerful about it! That way, we’re just giving back a bit of the time they so easily waste on us.

Just had a call asking if I was aware my boiler was over 10 years old. I told them I wasn’t bothered, and they just ended the call straight away. Same sort of thing other people mentioned.

Got a random call from a person pushing boilers. They had this usual script, kicking off with, "Is that [name]?" Then they went on about how my boiler's apparently over a decade old. I asked why it mattered to them and told them nicely enough to quit being so dodgy and leave me alone.

Picked up the phone but all I heard was silence, didn’t even get a word in before they hung up.

I picked up the phone but no one spoke, all I could hear was a bunch of noises like in a call centre. Then suddenly the call just ended. Strange!

This number keeps ringing but no ones there, so annoying! Getting loads of silent calls and it’s driving me crazy!

Got a call from someone claiming to be about my boiler, told them to bugger off straight away.

Pretty much had the same thing happen to me like the person before. A woman called up saying the company’s notes said my boiler’s more than a decade old (which it actually is) and started going on about some government energy saving offers. I cut her off nicely to say I’m not interested, and she just ended the call on me. Now I’ve blocked the number 07700900029 on my BT phone to stop them ringing again.

A woman called asking if she was talking to Mr ####. I replied by asking who was calling. She said it was about my boiler. I said hang on a sec, put the phone down, and went back to watching Wimbledon. After a bit, my phone said the caller had hung up.

A woman claimed she was calling from Energy Solutions and started by saying my boiler’s over ten years old according to their records. Obviously, there’s no way she could know that, just trying to provoke a reaction. I played along a bit, thanked her for “trying to fish info”, and then ended the call.

I didn't catch the bloke's name, but he said he was from ESS and that our boiler was more than ten years old. When I questioned him, he started being really rude and accused me of being impolite! I told him to remove me from their calls, and then he got even nastier. The call came from a UK-based call centre. I looked up ESS, found out they're a legit boiler firm, and let them know someone's pretending to be them. Apparently, I was the second person to give them the heads up.

No idea who it was but I just ignored it. Easy done.

Rang them but didn’t say anything on their voicemail.

No one spoke, just silence on the other end.

The number wasn’t familiar, so we just let it ring through to voicemail and then the caller ended the call.

Got a call from some bloke called Jack saying he’s from ESS. He told me my boiler is over ten years old, apparently from some UK database. When I asked him some questions, he started shouting and getting rude. Proper dodgy.
