Got a recorded call from 07538090596 claiming to be HMRC saying I’d be arrested for unpaid tax. Don’t worry though, this isn’t actually from the real Inland Revenue; it’s a known scam. There’s no case against you. You can check out the HMRC phone scam interactive map or watch a video explaining how these scams work. If you spot anything dodgy, you can report it to HMRC’s phishing team. Just forward scam texts to 60599 (standard network charges apply) or emails to [email protected]. I also emailed details about a suspicious call I got on 26/10/2020 from 07596381709.

Got a message saying I've overpaid on tax from HMRC for 2018-2019, but it’s definitely a scam. My taxes are all sorted and up to date, so watch out!

Got a text saying I overpaid tax for 2018/2019. I sent it straight to HMRC at 60599. Don’t click the link in the message, it’s really risky!

I got a message on my phone from a number claiming to be HMRC saying I was owed a tax refund with a link to their website. But since HMRC doesn’t send texts like that, I figured it was dodgy straight away. I looked up the number online and sure enough, it was a scam. Don’t be tricked by these messages!

I got a call supposedly from HMRC. Didn't feel right, so instead of opening any links, I just looked up the number on google and stumbled upon this site. Glad I didn't fall for it!

I got a call from someone pretending to be from HMRC. They told me I’d overpaid tax and could get a refund, then sent a link that looked exactly like the official HMRC site. They asked for loads of personal info, even bank details. Don’t fall for it, it’s a total scam. Never put your info in these links!

Got a text from some mobile number saying it was HMRC, with a link to claim back overpaid tax - but the site had no HMRC name in sight! Called it ‘tax service UK’ or something, what a load of muppets trying to scam people. Stay sharp!

Someone pretending to be from HMRC called me saying I was due a tax refund for 2018-2019. They sent me a website link to sort it out, but I didn’t open it!

Do not bother responding to this, it’s just a scam trying to freak you out. They’ll threaten you with arrest and pretend to be from HMRC, but it’s all fake. Truly, it’s a con. Best thing is to ignore it completely and get in touch with the real HMRC to report what happened. Once again, this is nothing but a scam - pure and simple. Please don’t engage with it at all, it’s just trying to trick you.

I got a message supposedly from HMRC saying I might be owed a tax refund from 2018-2019. There was a link included but I didn't open it. Instead, I just blocked the number and looked it up on the internet afterwards.
