10 yearsI just received a call from 07581502048, claiming to be sorting out a refund for our PPI with Santander. The caller mentioned she was representing some sort of 'Government Agency' - quite the surprise! She was chatting about reclaiming PPI on a mortgage we took out back in 2004 and seemed to know an alarming amount about us. For security purposes, she then asked for the last few digits of one of our debit cards, while she conveniently provided the first six numbers herself! However, as soon as I asked her to hold on while I checked the legitimacy of her company, the line went completely dead! He was peddling what he described as a generous refund for PPI insurance linked to our mortgage. However, the catch is - we never had any PPI insurance to begin with! To make matters worse, they then asked me to hold for "verification" and transferred me to another chap who sounded eerily similar to the original caller, and he too was keen on extracting our bank details. However, the moment we asked for his contact information, he gave us a dodgy phone number. When we dug a bit deeper and asked where he was based, the line suddenly went silent.
