Been having issues with my internet and Sky arranged for Openreach to come and fix it. About a week later, I got a text claiming to be from Sky saying they're still working on the fault. Had some issues with my broadband, and both Openreach and Sky came out to fix it. About a week later I got a message from this strange number saying it’s Sky, apologising for the delay and saying they’d run a test in an hour, which might cut my service for a couple of minutes. They asked to reply NO if I wasn’t happy with it - sounded dodgy straight away. I’m just wondering how these scammers even get hold of such specific info to make it sound so real?

They explained it’s linked to a two part scam involving both Sky TV and Broadband, and they're trying to sort it out.

Got a message today saying I should confirm my details for a new Sky set up. Problem is, the house number was totally off…. The text read: Hi, could you verify your Sky Broadband and Talk order address: First line 68 Postcode ENDING 1QW. Reply NO if anything is missing like Flat 1 or YES if it's all right. Since all the proper deliveries I’m expecting include the right house number and postcode, this random text seemed a bit dodgy to me.

If there’s any small mismatch, this text gets sent. It is honestly from Sky, but if you’re unsure you can ring Sky using the number on their website and ask to talk to someone in broadband customer switching. Then ask them to confirm with their back-end switching team who handle address matching for new orders and house moves. You’ll see it’s legit from them.

This is a total scam, definitely NOT from Sky - checked with Sky themselves, this number and those messages ain’t theirs. Sky never sends stuff like that. You should report it straight away to Sky cos they are already dealing with it, also inform Action Fraud, ICO and Ofcom. The number is Vodafone, not Sky’s, so why would they use that? Loads of red flags here!
