I sent my mum a WhatsApp pretending to be my brother saying, "Hey mum, my phone broke today, screen’s smashed and showing strange colours. Got a new one with a new sim now. Make sure you save this number ❤❤." Thing is, my brother’s not like that at all when he texts and hes in Australia right now, so it had my mum all worried and frantic trying to reach him to figure out what was going on. Definitely block those numbers straight away, don’t even bother replying!!

Got a call from a recorded voice claiming I was behind on my taxes with HMRC and that magistrates were about to take me to court. I don’t owe a single penny, so I knew it was dodgy straight away. They kept insisting I press 1 or 2 to sort it out. Total scam, don’t fall for it!

So I got loads of calls from this number, an Asian person saying something about a Marriage Allowance form I supposedly submitted - which I definitely hadn’t! I just hung up straight away but they kept ringing me back, like 8 times in a row. Ended up having to block the number completely. Total scam, watch out!

This number has been ringing me loads over the past few days. The voice sounds Asian and she said her name was Samantha. It’s definitely one of those HMRC marriage allowance scams. When I asked why they needed my details, she got proper rude. I even said “You’re a scam, aren’t you?” and she just told me to f*** off before hanging up. Not very polite! Best thing is to just ignore this number and if you do pick up, don’t say a word. Better safe than sorry.

After a couple of days dealing with smishing attempts, now I’m getting missed calls from a marriage allowance scam. I’ve flagged those numbers online and wiped the messages already. Quick heads up: never share any personal info, not even your full name. Avoid clicking any links or ringing back on these smishing texts. You can report it to the National Cyber Security Centre - the more reports they get, the better, even if action is rare. Just keep blocking the numbers, as they probably have loads to try. Take care out there!
